Venezuelan View: Games of 12/10

A good game for Edgar Ibarra.  Doctor Longball visits Aragua.  A comeback falls short in Magallanes.

CARACAS 9, ARAGUA 5 IN ARAGUA

Twins:  Oswaldo Arcia (Aragua) was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Edgar Ibarra (Aragua) pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and no walks with one strikeout.  Dakota Watts (Aragua) faced two batters and gave up hits to both, getting charged with one run.

Caracas:  Jesus Aguilar (Cleveland) was 3-for-4 with two home runs (his fifteenth and sixteenth), scoring three times and driving in five.  Jesus Guzman (San Diego) was 4-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in two.  Aharon Eggleston was 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs.

Aragua:  Hector Gimenez was 2-for-4 with two home runs (his twelfth and thirteenth) and five RBIs.  Wilson Ramos (Washington) was 3-for-5 with a double.  Luis Maza was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run.

The game:  Aguilar hit a three-run homer with one out in the first to give Caracas the early lead.  Gimenez led off the second with a home run and hit a grand slam with two out in the third to put Aragua ahead 5-3.  In the fifth, Aguilar hit a two-run homer to tie the score at five.  It stayed tied until the ninth, when Guzman hit a two-run double and Bobby Abreu hit a two-run homer.  Aragua went down in order in the bottom of the ninth.

LARA 8, MAGALLANES 5 IN MAGALLANES

Lara:  Joe Thurston was 3-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.  Mike Moustakas (Kansas City) was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer (his second) and two runs.  Erasmo Ramirez (Seattle) pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits and one walk with three strikeouts.

Magallanes:  Renny Osuna was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Adonis Garcia (Yankees) was 2-for-4 with a run.  Jesus Sanchez (Miami) pitched two perfect innings with one strikeout.

The game:  Moustakas hit a two-run homer in the fourth to start the scoring.  An error brought home a run in the seventh to give Lara a 3-0 lead and Lara scored five in the top of the eighth to go ahead 8-0.  Tomas Perez hit a two-run double in the inning.  Magallanes got on the board with one in the bottom of the eighth and scored four in the ninth to cut the lead to 8-5 and brought the tying run up to bat with one out.
