A near no-hitter in Sydney.

SYDNEY 2, ADELAIDE 1 IN SYDNEY

Adelaide:  Josh Cakebread was 1-for-3 with a double and a run.  This was the only hit for Adelaide.  Richard Olson struck out two in two perfect innings.

Sydney:  Joey DeMichele (White Sox) was 1-for-3 with a walk and a double, driving in one.  Jacob May (White Sox) was 1-for-4 with a triple and a run.  Vaughan Harris pitched eight innings, allowing one run on one hit and one walk with two strikeouts.

The game:  DeMichele's ground-rule double in the first gave Sydney a 1-0 lead.  Mitch Dening (Boston) had an RBI single in the fifth to make it 2-0.  Adelaide did not have a hit until the ninth, when Cakebread led off with a double.  A pair of ground outs brought him in to score, but Adelaide did not get the tying run on base.
