MELBOURNE 5, PERTH 4 IN MELBOURNE
Twins:  Lewis Thorpe (Melbourne) pitched five innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
Perth: Â Tim Kennelly (Philadelphia) was 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs. Â George Barber was 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run, his second. Â Jack Frawley pitched seven shutout innings, allowing six hits and two walks with five strikeouts.
Melbourne: Â Jared Schlehuber (Kansas City) was 2-for-3 with two walks and a home run (his sixth), scoring twice and driving in three. Â Brad Harman was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs. Â Justin Erasmus pitched two shutout innings, allowing two hits and no walks.
The game: Â Joey Wong (Colorado) singled in a run in the second, one scored on an error in the fifth, Kennelly homered in the sixth, and Barber homered in the seventh to put Perth up 4-0. Â That lead seemed safe enough, but Schlehuber hit a two-run homer in the eighth to cut the lead to 4-2. Â In the ninth, Schlehuber singled in a run to make it 4-3 and Justin Trapp (Kansas City) singled in both the tying and winning runs to give Melbourne a 5-4 victory.
SYDNEY 5, BRISBANE 4 IN BRISBANE
Twins:  Logan Wade (Brisbane) was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Sydney: Â Jacob May (White Sox) was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one. Â Mitch Dening was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Â Zach Shepherd was 2-for-3 with a run.
Brisbane: Â David Sutherland was 2-for-4 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in one. Â Ryan Battaglia (Cleveland) was 1-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Â Rhys Niit struck out three in two shutout innings, allowing one hit and no walks.
The game: Â In the third, Sydney scored one on an error and two on a Dening double to go ahead 3-0. Â Brisbane's Brad Dutton tripled and scored in the bottom of the third and Sutherland doubled in a run in the fourth to cut the lead to 3-2. Â May's RBI single and a wild pitch put Sydney back up by three at 5-2 in the fifth, but Brisbane again cut the margin to one in the sixth on Battaglia's RBI double and a run-scoring single by Matthew Roxburgh. Â Brisbane got a man to second with two out in the seventh, but their last seven batters were retired.
CANBERRA 5, ADELAIDE 2 IN CANBERRA
Adelaide: Â Jeremy Cresswell was 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Â Chris Jacobs (Dodgers) was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Â Josh Cakebread was 1-for-4 with a run.
Canberra: Â Mike Crouse (Toronto) was 3-for-4 with two home runs (his fifth and sixth) and three RBIs. Â Jeremy Barnes was 1-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Â Brian Grening pitched 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
The game: Â Barnes singled in a run in the first to give Canberra the early lead. Â Adelaide went up 2-1 in the third on RBI singles by Cresswell and Jacobs. Â Canberra scored two in the sixth on Crouse's two-run homer to go ahead to stay. Â They added single runs in the seventh and eighth.
