Gopher 'rasslers are just a half point out of first place at the NCAA Tournament. With only two finalists, it's a bit of a long shot, but no matter what happens today, this will be a much better showing than the B1G Tournament two weeks ago.
I only got to see Nelson's HWT semifinal. But we'll be watching this evening.
I caught it just after the Ness upset. I would like Scott Schiller to have another crack at Heflin in his semi-final. That seemed very winnable.
The Nelson final could be make or break for the team title, but also could give him his third NCAA title. Heard (or was reminded) this morning that he'd be the first Gopher wrestler to 3. That'd be cool.
A good medal round for the Gophs has made it more likely it will come down to Nelson tonight (assuming heavyweights hit the mat last...)
Finals start at 174 tonight, so David Taylor is on last.
I'm not fully up with the points, but if things are close (assuming Penn State's still up), we'd be rooting for a Ness win at 157 and a Caldwell win at 174?
If Ness and Nelson both win it looks pretty good. It would take some bonus points from one of the other two top teams, and even then I'm not sure there are enough points to overtake the Gophers.
Times like these, I wish I had more than just basic cable.
As it turned out you didn't miss much in the final round. I'll take the second place finish though.
The Potter County Battlers fell to James Valley Christian last night 72-55. Simple explanation: we ran into a better team. The Battlers play Ethan for third place tonight.
I was a little worried that I had too much liquid, even thought I followed the recipe pretty closely (ok, I didn't measure the beer). And I had to process the slurry a LOT longer than I'd expected before the seeds were noticeably breaking down. I still have a product with a lot of whole grains available for popping as you eat, but overall it has a good texture, good kick, and excellent overall flavor. It went great last night with corned beef, cabbage, and boiled potatoes and carrots (cooked in the defatted corned beef-apple juice stock).
so, I can confidently report that Boddington's works just fine in the recipe. I added about a tablespoon of brown sugar while processing. That was enough to balance flavors without really sweetening the final product.
Hey, I'm glad it worked out! The brown sugar sounds like a good idea, particularly if you omit some of the warmer spices. (I had forgotten that Mrs. S is allergic to cinnamon until you mentioned it.) The nice thing about making your own is getting to process the grains exactly as much or as little as you like. I love the little pops, too.
I'm thinking I'd like to tackle a more traditional yellow variety this summer. I can't have six different ketchup recipes and only one mustard...
any ketchup recommendations? i tried a recipe that ended up being a lemon.
Sounds like I may need to write a post...
Yes, please. I've been meaning to make ketchup.
I tried a ketchup recipe I got online once and it came out as a marinara sauce (actually a pretty good one, luckily) when I got done. I'd love to give ketchup another whack.
Alright, you guys inspired me to whip up a batch. I'm using a Belgian dubbel I've got on hand and omitting the cinnamon because I don't have any right now.
Good thing you're in Wisconsin β no shortage of fancy sausage to go with a schmancy dubbel mustard.
Chelsea went to town on Arsenal this morning. Wow.
I saw the red card/penalty kick that made it 3-0 15 minutes in. A defender decided he was going to play keeper and lunged at a wide shot with his hand.
And then the ref sent off Gibbs instead of Oxlade-Chamberlain. The whole thing was a mess start to finish.
That explains a lot. I was trying to piece together what was happening without sound.
Beating their London rivals 4-0 and 6-0 in the span of a week sure has helped close the goal differential gap with City. This may come down to the last game or two for Chelsea. Man that loss to AV looms large right now.

Nevermind. City defeats soon to be relegated Fulham 5-0.
soon to be relegated Fulham whomp, whomp. π
At least Yaya Toure got me back some of the fantasy points Arsenal lost me.
And my fantasy team has Arsenal's keeper and two defenders, so -2 points total from them today.
My dad called me yesterday to tell me that the AC on our 2003 Camry is on the fritz. He pushes the button to turn it on and, after about a second or so the light starts flashing. Blower is blowing but no cold air. I confirmed this behavior.
Any thoughts? I didn't hear any unusual noises. Dead compressor? Something that might be a cheap fix? Not having AC out here in the summer is not an option, so I'll have to get it fixed....
one suggestion seems to be the cabin air filter. But I changed that about 6-8 months ago, so that seems unlikely. I will check it anyway.
second suggestion is a bad AC relay/ AC magnetic clutch relay in the fuse box.

I guess that rules out the "fix it with electrical tape" option.
You'll obviously want to check the pressure before you start buying parts. Could be as simple as a glazed belt slipping, depending on the age/condition of the belt.
And they didn't even mention the Bowling Hall of Fame!
Correia was good for 3 inning before the wheels fell off
Can we make this letter into a template for future letters? Could be useful going forward.
I'll allow it. hahaha
Heh, I got blocked by Reusse now on Twitter for the response below (if it comes through). No biggie but I love how these old timers can dish it out left and right, but question their takes, look out.

This just in: this place is awesome. I learned from meat about the snake method, and put theory into practice today: three racks of dry-rubbed babyback ribs.
The snake method is my newest, favoritist technique. Even my dad was impressed. And the ribs were fantastic:
My snake was maybe a third of the way around (two briquettes wide and tall, with smallish chunks of hickory on top, then a pile of about 18 or so ashed-over briquettes at one end to start the snake. I got a great smoke ring, steady heat, moist ribs that were almost fall-off-the-bone after 3.5 hours, and I still had about 2 rows of unlit charcoal remaining. Plenty of heat left to grill some mushrooms for The Girl.

word to the wise: CH's mustard recipe is the Bomb.

Lukaku and Barkley were both on my bench...
Secretly, under cover of darkness, the major league baseball season started.
Twayn signal!!!
