A sweep for Twins affiliates!  Oswaldo Arcia and Kris Johnson lead Rochester!  Cedar Rapids snaps an eight-game losing streak!

ROCHESTER 2, TOLEDO 1 IN ROCHESTER

Batting stars:  Oswaldo Arcia was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run (his third), driving in two.  James Beresford was 2-for-4 with a run.

Pitching stars:  Kris Johnson struck out seven in six innings, giving up an unearned run on four hits and two walks.  Ryan Pressly struck out four in three shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks.

Opposition stars:  Wade Gaynor was 2-for-4 with a double.  Kyle Lobstein pitched a complete game, giving up two runs on seven hits and no walks with six strikeouts.

The game:  An error, a wild pitch, and a single gave Toledo a run in the first.  Arcia doubled in Beresford to tie it in the bottom of the first.  It stayed 1-1 until the sixth, when Arcia led off the inning with a home run.  That was all Rochester would need.  The Mud Hens' biggest threat was in the sixth, when they put men on second and third with one out, but a pair of strikeouts ended the inning.  Toledo also got a two-out triple in the ninth, but was again thwarted with a strikeout.

Of note:  Eric Farris was 0-for-4.  Deibinson Romero was 0-for-3.  Josh Willingham was 0-for-2 and was hit by a pitch.  Pedro Florimon was 1-for-3.

NEW BRITAIN 5, HARRISBURG 3 IN HARRISBURG

Batting stars:  Kennys Vargas was 2-for-4 with a double and a three-run homer, his eighth.  Tony Thomas was 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs.  Mike Kvasnicka was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.

Pitching stars:  Taylor Rogers pitched seven innings, giving up three runs on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts.  Cole Johnson struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks.

Opposition stars:  Justin Bloxom was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Brandon Bantz was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Colin Bates pitched four innings, allowing one run on two hits with two strikeouts.

The game:  With one out, two singles were followed by a Vargas three-run homer to give New Britain a 3-0 lead.  Bloxom singled in two in the bottom of the first to cut it to 3-2.  Three singles got one of the runs back for the Rock Cats in the second.  Rick Hague got a two-out double and scored on a Bantz single to cut the lead to 4-3 in the fourth.  Thomas tripled and scored in the fifth to make it 5-3.  Harrisburg threatened in the seventh when Bantz hit a leadoff double and again in the ninth when an error, a single, and a walk resulted in loaded bases with two out.

Of note:  Brad Boyer was 1-for-5.  Nate Hanson was 1-for-3 with an RBI.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 0-for-4.

Pitching stars:  Brett Lee struck out six in five innings, giving up an unearned run on four hits and no walks.  Tyler Jones struck out four in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and two walks.  Steven Gruver retired all five of the batters he faced, two by strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Marco Hernandez was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk, driving in one.  Starling Peralta pitched four shutout innings of relief, giving up one hit and striking out three.

The game:  Daytona scored one in the top of the second, but Fort Myers responded with two in the bottom of the second and never looked back.  The Miracle added two more in the third on just one hit, getting three walks and a hit batsman, to go ahead 4-1.  It stayed there until the seventh, when RBI singles by Travis Harrison and Goodrum preceded a grand slam by Walker II.  After the second, the Cubs did not get a man to second base until the ninth, when they got consecutive one-out walks, and never got a man to third.

Of note:  Aderlin Mejia was 0-for-5.  Dalton Hicks was 0-for-3 with two walks and two runs.  Harrison was 1-for-3 with two walks, scoring twice and driving in one.  Max Kepler was 0-for-2 with two walks and a run.

CEDAR RAPIDS 7, BURLINGTON 6 IN BURLINGTON

Batting stars:  J. D. Williams was 3-for-5 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in two.  Chad Christensen was 1-for-3 with two walks, scoring twice and driving in one.  Tanner Vavra was 3-for-5 with a double and a run.

Of note:  Garver was 1-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.  Ethan Mildren struck out five in five innings but surrendered five runs on nine hits and a walk.
