LEHIGH VALLEY 5, ROCHESTER 4 IN ROCHESTER
Batting stars: Doug Bernier was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Josmil Pinto was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs.
Pitching star: Michael Tonkin struck out two in a perfect inning.
Opposition stars: Steve Susdorf was 3-for-4 with a double and a home run, driving in four. Maikel Franco was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice and driving in one.
The game: Bernier doubled in two runs in the second to give Rochester a 2-0 lead. Lehigh Valley tied it in the fourth on Susdorf's two run homer. Susdorf doubled in a run in the sixth to give the IronPigs a 3-2 advantage, but the Red Wings got the lead back in the bottom of the sixth on a Chris Herrmann sacrrifice fly and a Bernier RBI single. The lead held until the eighth, when an error was followed by Franco's RBI double and Susdorf's run-scoring single. Rochester loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, but a strikeout and a foul fly ended the game.
Of note: Eric Farris was 1-for-4. Deibinson Romero was 1-for-5. Chris Colabello was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run. Herrmann was 0-forr-3 with ann RRBI. Ryan Pressly struck out four in 2.1 innings, giving up two unearned runs on two hits.
NEW BRITAIN 6, TRENTON 2 IN NEW BRITAIN
Batting stars: Reynaldo Rodriguez was 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in one. Brandon Waring was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks, scoring once and driving in one. Kennys Vargas was 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run, his twelfth.
Pitching star: Taylor Rogers pitched a complete game, giving up two runs on six hits and no walks with two strikeouts.
Opposition stars: Ali Castillo was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Tyler Austin was 2-for-3 with a run.
The game: Vargas opened the scoring with a fourth-inning home run. Castillo delivered a two-out two-run double in the fifth to put Trenton ahead 2-1. New Britain came back with a four-run sixth. The tying run scored on a ground out, Rodriguez singled in the go-ahead run and later in the inning, a two-out two-run single by Mike Kvasnicka made it 5-2. The Thunder only got one hit after the fifth inning.
Of note: Tony Thomas was 0-for-2 with a walk and a hit-by-pitch, scoring once. Eddie Rosario was 1-for-4 with a double and a run. Nate Hanson was 0-for-4 with an RBI.

BURLINGTON 13, CEDAR RAPIDS 3 IN CEDAR RAPIDS
Batting stars: Tanner Vavra was 1-for-3 with two walks and a run. Ryan Walker was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Chad Christensen was 2-for-4 with a run.
Pitching stars: None.
Opposition stars: Kody Eaves was 4-for-6 with a double and a home run (his seventh), scoring three times and driving in four. Erick Salcedo was 4-for-5 with a triple, scoring four times and driving in two. Mike Fish was 3-for-5, scoring once and driving in two.
The game: A six-run fourth gave Burlington a 7-0 lead. The Bees had a hit batsman, three singles, and a double. They also took advantage on an error and a wild pitch. All three Kernel runs came in the sixth, a rally capped by a two-run Walker double. The Bees scored four in the eighth to do away with any thoughts of a comeback.
Of note: Zack Granite was 1-for-5. Mitch Garver was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run. Starter Ethan Mildren pitched 3.1 innings, giving up four runs on nine hits and no walks with one strikeout.
