  1. Minor Details is somewhat delayed, but it will be coming. We will eventually do June players of the month, but it won't be today and tomorrow isn't looking good, either.

  2. Every so often, Chrome updates the thumbnails on your "most visited". With all the banners we got going on around here, the thumbnail changes quite a bit and I can't find the WGOM pic for a half second.

    1. From Russo:

Jussi Jokinen to Florida at 4 years x $4 million,
Mike Cammalleri to New Jersey at 5 x 5,
Benoit Pouliot to Edmonton at 5 x 4,
      Milan Michalek re-signed with Ottawa at 3 x 4,
Alex Hemsky is reportedly going to rejoin Jason Spezza in Dallas.
      Ryan Miller to Vancouver.

  3. Hey Spooky, I have a question for you, pursuant to a conversation that was had a few months ago. I just moved into a new apartment and am officially in the market for a new TV. Do you have any recommendations for the best brands, models, etc.? My budget is <$1000. I don't necessarily care about it being cutting-edge, but if there are any in particular that you think are the best then I'd love to know.

      1. Hah.

I am in the market as well. Our 42-inch Vizio failed (for the SECOND TIME; no picture -- sound only). I'm pretty sure that the repairs are well out of warranty by now. Even though the TV is only a few years old (5-6?), I'm guessing it is not worth repairing again.

        1. I'm guessing 5-6 years for a TV is outside the window of replacement for even Costco-level of customer service.

          1. Yea, the repair was 2-3 years ago, so probably well out of the extended warranty window for the Costco Amex card purchase.

    1. Hmm. We're also in the market after we couldn't stand the whine on a 10 year old rear projection TV.
Budget is probably closer to $600...might as well get a smart TV, but don't need 3D and will specifically avoid anything with voice controls (after watching my 8-year old wave and argue at the TV this week while up at the cabin.)

      1. In the 3D TVs, the 3D isn't really what you're paying for most of the time. They're more expensive because they almost all have a higher refresh rate.

I love, love voice controls. However, they're unpredictable and the functionality seems to have trouble after a year or so.

At $600, if you want a Smart TV, you're stuck with either a bargain bin TV like Vizio or a smaller one (of course, I don't know what "small" is for your space; if 40" suits you fine, you can afford a decent smart TV. Remember, though, that there are other ways to get smart apps - like the Roku and other streaming devices or the right Blu-Ray player - so you can save money on the TV and spend $35-$100 on a device).

      1. If you're willing to share, I'll be on the market for a new television next year. Perhaps the contents of your email could go here for future reference?
