mewithoutYou are a fairly different sort of band, and this is a different sort of video. Accordions, harps, and dancing white dudes are prevalent here, and the song itself sort of eschews their usual aesthetic, which was originally a sort of abrasive, lyrical post-hardcore sound. Aaron Weiss is one of my favorite lyricists, and the album which this song appears on (Brother, Sister) is one of my "desert island" albums.
Lord, those dancing people are obnoxious. I enjoy this performance of the song, though, so this is what you get.
That was pretty cool. Seems like it would be a short path between these guys and Trail of Dead.
Also, there are no stars to click on. I probably would have clicked on eight of them.
Fixed.
(That's what clicking the "Video" option in the Format box does, Nibbs.)
I hadn't really thought about that until a year or two ago, but there's a definite barely tangible similarity there.
Any song title that includes the words "sweater" and "knit" is going to get my attention, but I actually liked this a lot for many other reasons. (Though none of them was the dancing. You sure got that tag right!)
This was cool - how's the album version?
There's less dancing.
But seriously folks, it seems like the video above is pretty faithful to the sound/feel of the album version, although the lyrics are a bit easier to understand on the album version.
This song has been stuck in my head for 3 days now.
