The whole office is going to the Padres/Twins game today.
Do the Padres have any good players I should know?
... Do the Twins?

It would appear that the one baseball fan in Nunavut is a Twins fan.

Minor Details is somewhat delayed, but if nothing unexpected happens it will still show up later this morning.
Odrisamer Despaigne has a great name and he's starting for the Pads so there's that if nothing else.
Joaquin Benoit is having a very good season: 53 Ks in 45.1 innings, 0.84 WHIP. Seth Smith has cooled off from earlier this year, but he still has an OBP above .380. And there's always former Twins great Rene Rivera.
Makes me think of Levale Speigner.
Your memory is bad -- Jeremy Speigner.
Interesting perspective on Gibson & the Diamondbacks. With not seeing them regularly, I wasn't aware of any issues in the desert. Spooky - is this article hot air?
They're an embarrassment.
Gibson & Towers are a semi-regular topic of conversation on Effectively Wild, partially for their vigilantism and partially for the particular pitfalls of their old-school approach to roster construction and intangibles.
I will say that this situation only exists because Seligula allows it to exist. If the Commissioner started exercising his disciplinary powers more assertively teams would modify their behavior accordingly. But as long as Selig sits on his hands (how many times has a similar phrase been written about the man?), we'll have these retaliation games.

WTF WAS McCUTCHEN DOING STEPPING INTO THE BATTERS BOX???
I came thiiiiis close to having both my #1 and #2 fantasy draft picks on the DL at the same time, both for strained obliques. Then they went and changed the diagnosis.
By the way, Philo, you're welcome.
Of course, the Tony LaRussa's of the world are usually the first ones to complain that pitchers don't pitch inside any more.
I got in to see Steve Earle last night. I know there are generally mixed feelings about him round these parts, but it was a great, intimate show. He sang in a church, which as he put it can be a bit intimidating for some artists, but it was a fantastic setting. I wish there would have been a few of his more uptempo songs, but I was sitting in for free so I can"t complain.
I don't know a lot of Steve Earle songs, but I like what I know.
Who doesn't like Steve Earle around here?
(He had to do "Galway Girl" in Ireland, right?)
he did indeed play Galway Girl, and then appologized to every musician in Ireland for forcing them to play the song at weddings.
One of my favorites.
But he can't act.
Steve Earle is one of bucket list artists I need to see before he or I reach our demise. I wish he'd play at a church here in the Twin Towns.
He does play zoos here.
We've seen someone sing about him three or four times.
Well, technically, it wasn't about him.
Apparently last night Rollins to Utley to Howard become the longest tenured double-play combo ever in MLB history.
That's why I didn't trade anyone. -- Amaro.

In Northampton/Hadley. Desk clerk must be a five colleges' alum. She proselytized on check-in. But so far, looks like Dartmouth is the leader in the clubhouse, closely followed by MIT. Not sure if desk clerk at a Hampton Inn is what the girl aspires to.
Dinner at Amherst Brewing Co. Beer was meh, but the mrs had an excellent fish chowder, amd I had a very tasty meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Also, good pierogies. Tomorrow they start a big Beer Camp guest tap event. Boo.

Well we can stop blaming the Dbacks for this one. Tony LaRussa has determined it's the Pirates' own fault.
