    1. The Twins game is big because it could keep the Tigers from clinching the ALC. That's almost as big as preventing them from clinching a playoff spot since the wild card means playing a one-game playoff. The Twins have forced the Tigers to use David Price today and if the Tigers lose, they could be forced to use Verlander to get to the ALDS. If they lose that, they would be forced to use Scherzer to advance to the ALDS. IF they win that, they would have to start the ALDS with Porcello, who has been awful in September. So don't dismiss this Twins game.

  1. Twins expected W/L: 74-87
    White Sox: 70-91

So, what kind of stats-based push should we be rooting for today, since that's all the Twins have going? Four runs for Dozier to take over the MLB runs leadership? I'm personally hoping the Yanks walk 11 so the Twins can retake the AL fewest BB allowed title. Also like to see the Twins catch the BoSox W/L

    1. Give it up. Bunting is not a problem with Gardy. The Twins sac bunt less than most teams and many of them, the players do it on their own. In this case, Gardy bunted a weak hitter with two on and no outs. I had absolutely no problem with that. That was probably the best situation to sac bunt. The sac bunt is not going away, so might as well do it in the ideal times.

      1. I really don't want Gardy listening to critics, including me (not that he would). That would lead to chaos. As long as he's the manager, he should do what he thinks is right. Gardy is who he is. He only needs one vote: Terry Ryan's.

      2. Give up on wanting a manager that will use the optimal strategy? Why even think at all? I should just make a "Circle Me Bert" sign.

              1. Skip the 90-second intro. I don't remember that when I was loving this on VH1 back around my tenth birthday.
I believe I got the album (on cassette) for Christmas.

  2. The big AL West games are starting as I head to work, where I will of course walk into a bunch of football games on the screen instead. Argh. My kingdom for a Sunday off.

  3. Robby Incmikoski works for the Pirates? Huh. I figured I was done seeing him.

This is definitely not the only Pirates game I've watched this year. Not sure how I missed him.

    1. Comment on the highlight of the amazing catch for the final out. Seriously.

Perhaps I'm interpreting the term 'no-hitter' too literally, considering the guy did actually hit the ball, thus it being caught in the outfield.

  4. Earlier today, I pulled up to a red light. A guy pulled up next to me in an old, beat-up Pontiac and jumped out of the driver's seat at the light to run up and say something to the driver of the car in front of me. Definitely strange, but it was even more strange when I realized the driver was Chase Budinger (he's pretty easy to recognize).
