I've got the day off in anticipation of my birthday. I need to make myself a birthday mix CD.

3. After hearing this song a friend of mine noted: You just know Hank's getting laid to whomever he's singing this to.
10. In concert Fred talks about he was upset at first when Dar Williams recorded this song as a woman singing it to another woman. "I don't write lesbian songs!" Then the royalty checks started coming in. "Now I write lesbian song after lesbian song."
B2. Rumours is a great album but I am not even close to tempted to seeing these guys in concert.

Nice list RD. If there was any justice in the musical world Police on My Back would've been as big as Smells Like Teen Spirit. Also JoPos had this great article about the Darkness on the Edge of Town re-release, you should look it up sometime. (that's for all you old-timers).
I've officially decided that I don't see what the big deal with The Black Keys is.
Welcome aboard. I think there's some room up front.
You'll find me in the same room. I tried so hard to see, too.
It took a while, but I'm finally getting into Parquet Courts. I think part of the problem was reviewers constantly compared them to Wire, Pavement, and Television--3 bands that I've loved over the years. They aren't in the same league as those folks, but they have grown on me.

I picked up Light Up Gold last week, and I've definitely enjoyed the few times I've gone through it so far (though I don't have the experience with those other 3 bands to contrast it with).

Sort of tied into the earlier conversation about streaming services, I mainly use Spotify as a way for me to sample anything that interests me in a release year. So I guess if you're interested, this is my playlist of 2014 albums that I think are interesting (or sound interesting and haven't got around to yet).
