MAGALLANES 4, ZULIA 3 IN MAGALLANES
Twins: Deolis Guerra pitched a third of an inning, giving up three runs on three hits and a walk for Magallanes.
Zulia: Ali Castillo (Yankees) was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Freddy Galvis (Galvis) was 2-for-4 with a double. Leonel Campos (San Diego) struck out two in a scoreless inning, allowing one hit and one walk.
Magallanes: Lew Ford (Baltimore) was 2-for-4 with a home run. Ronny Cedeno (Arizona) was 2-for-3 with two walks and a run. Orangel Arenas (Angels) pitched five shutout innings, allowing two hits and two walks.
The game: Castillo's three-run double in the seventh tied the score 3-3. An RBI single in the eighth by Jake Opitz (Philadelphia) scored what turned out to be the winning run for Magallanes.
ANZOATEGUI 4, MARGARITA 2 IN MARGARITA
Twins: Aaron Hicks was 0-for-3 with a walk for Margarita.
Anzoategui: Jose Castillo was 1-for-3 with a three-run homer. Oscar Salazar was 2-for-4 with a home run. Mark Serrano (Arizona) pitched six innings, giving up two unearned runs on five hits and two walks with one strikeout.
Margarita: David Peralta (Arizona) was 3-for-4. Casey Lawrence (Toronto) pitched six innings, allowing four runs (one earned) on seven hits and no walks.
The game: Two errors gave Margarita a 2-0 lead in the second, but Castillo's three-run homer in the third put Anzoategui in front 3-2. Salazar homered for an insurance run in the sixth.
LARA 5, ARAGUA 2 IN ARAGUA
Lara: Joe Thurston was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks, scoring once and driving in one. Brian Hernandez (Angels) was 1-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Nestor Molina (White Sox) pitched six shutout innings, giving up five hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
Aragua: Ramon Flores (Yankees) was 2-for-2 with two walks and a run. Alex Romero was 2-for-3 with a walk. Yorman Bazardo pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and no walks.
The game: Up 2-0, Lara scored three more in the seventh. Aragua got two in the bottom of the seventh but did not bring the tying run up to bat.
CARACAS 8, LA GUAIRA 2 IN CARACAS
La Guaira: Erold Andrus (Texas) was 1-for-1 with a double and two RBIs. Alex Cabrera was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Alvin Herrera (Baltimore) pitched a perfect inning.
Caracas: Josh Whitesell was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in two. Jesus Aguilar (Cleveland) was 4-for-4 with three runs. Victor Sanchez (Seattle) pitched five shutout innings, allowing four hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
The game: A two-run triple by Daniel Mayora (Dodgers) made it 5-0 in the third and Caracas was never threatened.
