Fall Festival: Games of October 29

Story makes the game never-ending for Salt River and Surprise.  Where there's a Wilson, there's a way for Peoria.  One inning is all Mesa needs.

SALT RIVER 4, SURPRISE 4, IN SURPRISE (11 INNINGS)

TwinsMax Kepler was 1-for-5 with an RBI.  Jake Reed pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.

Salt River:  Brandon Drury (Arizona) was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Trevor Story (Colorado) was 2-for-6 with a home run.  Anthony DeSclafani (Miami) struck out five in five innings, giving up two runs on eight hits and one walk.

Surprise:  Hunter Renfroe (San Diego) was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Jace Peterson (San Diego) was 2-for-5 with a run.  Sam Wolff (Texas) pitched two innings, allowing an unearned run on no hits and one walk with one strikeout.

The game:  Surprise led 4-1 after seven, but Story homered in eighth and Taylor Featherston (Colorado) tripled in a run and later came around to score in the ninth to tie it at four.  By rule, AFL games are declared ties after eleven innings.

PEORIA 5, GLENDALE 4 IN GLENDALE

Peoria:  Jacob Wilson (St. Louis) was 2-for-4 with a triple, scoring twice and driving in two.  Edward Salcedo (Atlanta) was 2-for-4 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in one.  Tyrell Jenkins (St. Louis) pitched four innings, giving up one run on three hits and two walks with one strikeout.

Glendale:  Nick Ramirez (Milwaukee) was 3-for-4 with an RBI.  Corey Seager (Dodgers) was 1-for-4 with a home run.  Wei-Chung Wang (Milwaukee) pitched four innings, allowing one run on four hits and no walks with one strikeout.

The game:  It was 2-1 Glendale after eight.  In the ninth, Salcedo doubled in the tying run and Wilson hit a two-run triple and scored on a sacrifice fly to put Peoria up 5-2.  Peoria scored two in the bottom of the ninth and had the tying run on first with one out when a double play ended the game.

MESA 7, SCOTTSDALE 5 IN SCOTTSDALE

Mesa:  Sean Ochinko (Toronto) was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Cal Towey (Angels) was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Nate Smith (Angels) struck out four in four innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks.

Scottsdale:  Tyler Austin (Yankees) was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in three.  Kyle Higashioka (Yankees) was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Rob Whalen (Mets) pitched four shutout innings, allowing two hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

The game:  Mesa scored seven in the sixth, with two scoring on an Ochinko double, to go ahead 7-1.  Scottsdale closed to 7-5 in the eighth but did not bring the tying run up to bat.
