Big doubles lead to victory for Adelaide as the Australian League season starts!

ADELAIDE 8, BRISBANE 3 IN BRISBANE

Twins:  Logan Wade was 1-for-3 with a run for Brisbane.

Adelaide:  Tom Brice (White Sox) was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks, scoring three times.  Craig Maddox (Atlanta) was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks, driving in three.  Matthew Williams pitched seven innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and one walk with five strikeouts.

Brisbane:  Johnny Field (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Maxx Tissenbaum (Tampa Bay) was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.  Ryan Searle (Cubs) retired all four batters he faced.

The game:  Five singles produced three runs and a 3-0 lead in the third for Brisbane.  Adelaide came right back in the fourth, with a three-run double by Maddox capping a four-run inning that put Adelaide in the lead to stay.  Ben Lodge doubled in two in the sixth and Rocky Gale (San Diego) added a two-run single in the eighth.
