  1. The Twins are ditching their home pinstripes in 2015? And adding gold to their home uniform and cap?! You lose 90+ games for four seasons in a row* and you add gold to your uniform like you're the World Champs?

    * According to the guys on Effectively Wild, the St. Louis Cardinals have posted fewer 90+ loss seasons in the last 97 years than the Twins have in the last four.

      1. In the linked article, Chris Creamer says he's seen them and it's similar to the SFG treatment. I didn't know SFG had gold. Here's what they have:

So: basically gold drop-shadows. That could easily be added here:

In fact, the Twins have already used gold, just a few years ago:

    1. I'm waiting to see what they actually look like.
Keeping the pinstriped cream throwback alts sounds like a done deal, and I'm glad for that. (I'd say have them be the main home uni, but then the "Twins" logo would be off the jerseys entirely.
When they removed the pinstripes from the greys, I was surprised, but because of it, I think I'm almost pre-acclimated to pinstripeless home whites. Can they be v-neck pullovers like those 1980's throwbacks they had a few years ago?
(But that had a script, not a logo, as do the road greys. I don't know if I like my imaginings of the red "Twins" logo on plain white.)

      My absolute preferences:
      1. keep the TC cap.
      2. no vests.

      1. Keeping the TC cap is a must; the m caps, while associated with the '87 and '91 teams, don't look nearly as good.

The Twins wordmark is one I wish they would ditch. I like the underscore on win just fine, but the lettering is atrocious. They modified it a few years back to make it slightly less ugly, but every time I see it I see poor design coupled with the dark days of the late Nineties.

  2. so, up is down, black is white, right is wrong. The LeBrons are 1-3 and look it, while the Kings are 4-1 and look...competent.

    1. Not Mali like the south-Saharan African Nation or the Empire that is its namesake?
I'm still using Molly. Because of entendres*.

      *Girl's name, MDMA

      1. Blijleven to Pitching coach, Morris to Bullpen coach.
Example of Morris's coaching in every inning, to relievers: "Sit down, the starter's got another inning or two in him!"

        1. PS. Done at the behest of the broadcasters, who can't risk backlash to firing these popular* announcers.
*I would guess. If for nothing else, for their World Series heroics.

  3. I expect a Jim Souhan article how Parise is a wimp later today

    Michael Russo @Russostrib
Parise has a concussion, says Yeo #mnwild

    1. Somehow, that feels better than the majority of young athlete deaths we've seen lately.
At least he wasn't living with demons before his passing.

  4. Wondering if anyone saw Souhan's "Suspend him, you sissy" article addressing Roger Goodell today....

    1. Now I have.

... Thanks I guess? Quite the week for him. I think a number of us have been blocked on twitter by him. Which is nice. We should have patches.

I need to find a way to read those articles w/o giving him page views. hmmm.

  5. The Twins have drafted more high-velocity pitchers in the past few years, and Molitor would like the major league team to join the trend toward more strikeouts from the pitching staff.

    Yes!

“We’ve seen velocity make a difference for many teams,” he said.

Doh! So close. Velocity =/= strikeouts.

  6. “I’m glad that Joe’s on my team,” Molitor said. “… Joe’s got a quiet demeanor, and some people misread that. I know Joe burns to compete and I know Joe burns to win.”
