Mexican Matchups: Games of November 4

Home runs rule the day for Jalisco.  Hermosillo wins it late.  A first-inning run doesn't help Navojoa.

JALISCO 6, MAZATLAN 4 IN JALISCO

Mazatlan:  Olmo Rosario was 1-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.  Ryan Schimpf (Toronto) was 1-for-4 with a double and a run.

Jalisco:  Japhet Amador was 2-for-3 with two home runs (his fifth and sixth) and a walk, scoring three times and driving in three.  Jose Manuel Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a home run (his second), scoring twice and driving in one.  Manuel Flores pitched two perfect innings with one strikeout.

The game:  Rodriguez homered in the fifth to tie the game at four.  Amador homered in the seventh to give Jalisco the lead and Gabriel Guttierez homered in the eighth for an insurance run.

HERMOSILLO 6, LOS MOCHIS 4 IN HERMOSILLO

Los Mochis:  Yancarlo Angulo was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Antonio Lamas was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI.  Julian Arballo (Yankees) struck out four in three innings, giving up an unearned run on one hit and one walk.

Hermosillo:  Jorge Flores (Toronto) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Luis Alfonso Garcia was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, driving in one.  Jason Urquidez struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit.

The game:  Los Mochis scored two in the fifth to tie it at four.  A sacrifice fly brought home the go-ahead run in the seventh and Flores singled in an insurance run in the eighth.

MEXICALI 4, NAVOJOA 1 IN NAVOJOA

Mexicali:  Gil Velazquez was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.  Luis Juarez was 1-for-4 with a home run, his second.  Javier Solano (Dodgers) pitched 6.1 innings, giving up one run on five hits and four walks with two strikeouts.

Navojoa:  Jose Guadalupe Chavez was 2-for-4 with a run.  Eliseo Aldazaba was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Hugo Gutierrez pitched a scoreless inning, allowing one hit with one strikeout.

The game:  Navojoa scored once in the first, but Velazquez hit a two-run double in the second that put Mexicali ahead 2-1.  Mexicali added single runs in the fifth and eighth.
