ESTE 3, CIBAO 2 IN ESTE
Twins: Jeremias Pineda was used as a pinch-runner and defensive player for Cibao but did not bat. He has appeared in fourteen games but has only sixteen at-bats.
Cibao: Jonathan Diaz (Toronto) was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer. Adrian Nieto (Washington) was 2-for-2 with a walk and a run. Jose Cabrera pitched a perfect inning.
Este: Eugenio Velez (Milwaukee) was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Jose Ramirez (Cleveland) was 1-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Dylan Axelrod (Cincinnati) struck out eight in 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk.
The game: Este scored two in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead. Velez and Ramirez each had an RBI single. Cibao put the tying run on third in the sixth and the eighth.

Escogido: Roberto Novoa retired all four men he faced, striking out one.
Aguilas: Dan Black (White Sox) was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a walk, scoring once and driving in two. Andy Marte (Arizona) was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer (his sixth) and a walk. Angel Castro (Oakland) pitched seven shutout innings, allowing three hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
The game: Marte hit a two-run homer in a three-run third. Aguilas added a run in the fourth and put the game out of reach with a three-run sixth.
LICEY 8, ORIENTE 1 IN LICEY
Oriente: Michael Martinez (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-4 with a run. Scott Copeland (Toronto) struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up three hits.
Licey: Mel Rojas (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-3 with a triple and a walk, scoring three times and driving in one. Dilson Herrera (Mets) was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once. Gabriel Arias (Cleveland) struck out three in two shutout innings, allowing two hits.
The game: Licey scored four in the second to go up 5-0 and was never threatened. Elmer Reyes (Atlanta) had a two-run double in the inning.
