    1. The last show I regularly watched on ABC was "Happy Endings". This may break that streak.

      1. I think Blackish has become really funny. The coworker Charlie is hilarious.

          1. Seconded on both accounts. That's becoming one of the favorite shows for my wife and I. That younger girl just kills me.

    2. I approve. I think.

Reminds me of Greg The Bunny, but... better. I hope.

  1. Some advice when dealing with Europeans: When they say week 24, the actually mean the 24th week of the year. Keep this in mind when booking expensive airline tickets to England, even if you have sent an email with exact dates and had it confirmed by them.

  2. Wednesdays are busy, and this one is busier than normal, so it'll probably be a while before Minor Details is up. All four Twins affiliates have day games today. Fort Myers hosts Dunedin at 9:35 (Central), Chattanooga is at Birmingham at 11:00, Cedar Rapids hosts Peoria at noon, and Rochester hosts Toledo at 12:30.

  3. Discovered that my kids busted our computer's keyboard yesterday. I tried typing a, typed a 4 instead. e wouldn't' type at all. Wife thinks coffee got spilled on it. Great...

    1. Small consolation: keyboards are cheap. My wife has dropped her iPhone in water at least three times. Still working, and hope it can hold out until her contract is up in March.

  4. My updated NBA power poll

    1. LAC -- despite a bad loss last night, I think they are still the team to beat.
    2. GSW -- seized back home court in Memphis, likely won't lose the Grizzlies at home again
    3. CLE -- if Kyrie can play like he did last night, they'll win the East
    4. CHI -- if CLE doesn't win the East, Chicago will
    5. MEM -- losing home court was huge, I don't see them coming out of the West but if they do, they'll be the favorites in the finals
    6. ATL -- No Wall and they win by 5? This club is being exposed
    7. HOU -- Really good showing last night, but they aren't gonna beat the Clips two more times.
    8. WAS -- They'd probably make the ECF interesting if Wall hadn't been hurt

    1. I'll add that I think CLE can beat ATL without Kyrie, but they need him to get past the Bulls. LeBron was in total beast mode last night and they needed every bit of him (and Kyrie) to get past the Bulls. This thing is going seven (Chicago wins last night if that game is in Chicago even with LBJ and KI's epic performances) and if Gasol can make it back by Game Seven, it will be an epic showdown.

      1. I'm bumping GSW back up to the top. Clippers should have been able to close out Houston last night. They shot terribly, and that fact exposes their major weaknesses -- bench play and perimeter shooting. Basically, the same problems that Memphis has.

The Warriors have re-proven that they can defend on the interior against bigs. Their defense in game 4 was stellar.

In the East, ugh. The choices are not great. A hobbled Cavs team? Chicago would be the favorite if Pau were healthy, but now it's a toss-up. Atlanta probably will survive Washington, but I don't take too much away from that last, close win. Atlanta just isn't built to blow people out. They thrive on balance and teamwork. Assuming they do survive, I think they would lose to Chicago but very possibly beat Cleveland.

  5. so, I saw a vid this morning on FB of kids playing "Crazy Train". One of my friends posted the following hilarious (to me) comment:

We were driving one day when that song came on the radio. The boys yelled, "Crazy train! Turn it up! Turn it up!" I'm asking, "How do you know this song?" certain in the fact that I have never played Ozzy Osborne for them. "It's from Megamind!" And just like that the Prince of Darkness became children's music. GiggleSNORT!

    1. I've run into this a lot, to the point where if my girls know an obscure (these days) rock song, I only wonder which movie featured it.

      1. I had that happen, but I was the kid. Wayne's World had just come out, and I was excitedly telling my parents about the coolest new song that was in the movie, and that I just started hearing on the radio. I even remember trying to somehow explain a song, without singing it. They of course had no idea what I was talking about, until we heard it in the car one day and I told them that was the song! The brand new song that was so cool!

        It was Bohemian Rhapsody.

        1. One of my best days as a dad was when my son came home wearing a Led Zep tee-shirt. He then proceeded to rifle through my CD collection for albums to rip.

            1. hah.

I was (and still am) a tight-wad. The only LPs I owned were either gifts or hand-me-downs (werd to the Bossman, one of my early such possessions was the Stones' Goat's Head Soup, which features the single "Angie").

I was graced with a college housemate with an extensive collection of LPs. Then when CDs started becoming more widely available I joined those damned clubs a couple of times (ordering the minimum numbers and quitting) to build a CD collection.

          1. I can't wait until my son and/or daughter comes home wearing an Enslaved t-shirt and rifles through my cloud stored mp3's (somehow) for music to stream.

    1. I know far less than that, and one band/group/thing I only really know because of beer.

Speaking of which, this is the actual best Minnesota band. Both in awesomeness and tangible contribution to the state.

    2. I've heard of all of them. Few quibbles (Dillinger 4?) My order would be completely different however.

        1. Ran thru the briars and they ran thru the bushes, and they ran thru the brambles where the rabbits wouldn't go. Just sayin.

            1. Johnny Holm used to play it - saw him and Band at a small dance hall out east of Hugo. There were many BYOL bottles around...

      1. I own three Prince albums, one a greatest hits compilation.
I own 11 Dylan studio albums, two live albums and two greatest hits albums.

      2. You could go either way. Obviously Dylan's greatest influence was 40-50 years ago so may get dinged for that. Prince's greatest influence was 25-30 years ago, so both could fall in the "what have you done for me lately" category.

      3. While I probably would have voted for Zimmy, it's a total toss up. They are both still iconic figures worldwide. (I also wouldn't rule out a second half career rally for Prince, much like Dylan's latter years catalog.)

        1. I'd go with Zimmy as well, but appreciate that Prince has been a tremendous force and influence.

Zimmy had an impact on three four many different genres (folk, pop, rock, country, folk-rock, blues,...). He's had TWO chart-topping albums in the past decade (2006's Modern Times and 2009's Together Through Life), and 2012's Tempest both sold well and reviewed well. So I'd suggest that he's been pretty relevant more recently than 40-50 years ago (not dismissing free's characterization, just modifying it with some of what he's done for us lately).

          1. And plays at minor league stadiums (saw him and The Band at New Britain).

      4. Dylan left MN before he became anything, hasn't returned.
Prince lived here the whole time.

Who would you rather have perform a Superb-owl halftime show?

          1. Wholly serious. Except for the hyphenation.
Prince was much more a Minnesotan while significant touring artist than Dylan.
I think in a list of "20 Best Minnesotan Acts", the Minnesotan-ness of the Acts should be evaluated as well.
            Otherwise, where's the Hold Steady?

            1. OK, I think Prince moved out of town for a while, but he came back.
Dylan has come back when on tour, it's not like he refuses to set foot in the state.

                1. I did not know about the farm. That's... something on his side of the ledger.
                  Still, Prince #1.

              1. [edited] So Mauer & Hrbek over Winfield, Molitor and Morris ... because they stayed home?

            2. He didn't say that you have to purify yourself in the waters of the Hudson River, after all.

      5. I should say that I don't have a definitive answer, but I sure as heck wanted to see what their answer was.

        1. Aye. Great Minnesota writers -- do you include or not include Fitzgerald and Sinclair Lewis?

  6. Jose Berrios threw a two-hit complete-game shutout today. He walked two and struck out eight. He threw 113 pitches--time will tell if that was a good idea--but it was a tremendous game.

    1. Sounds like most of those pitches likely weren't too stressful, so that pitch count shouldn't be a problem.

    2. Tommy Milone threw eight shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks with twelve strikeouts for Rochester. My opinion is that we either get him back up here to replace Nolasco or trade him while we still might get something for him. We already know he can pitch in Rochester, and he's not getting any younger.

    1. Oh, right, I forgot all about this. The purpose of this wasn't to fill out the lexicon, though it could certainly be a good resource if there are any volunteers that want to do so.

    2. Yep, that's what I was looking for. I'd volunteer to update the lexicon, but would only be able to add definitions for maybe 10-15% of the words & phrases.
