Following up on yesterday, I did also listen to West African music while in Senegal. I also took a dance class with live drumming, which was fantastic.
Youssou N'Dour and Baaba Maal were the Senegalese musicians I probably heard the most while I was there, so here's something from Maal. This one starts off pretty quiet, but give it until about the 2:30 mark when it picks up.

This was fun!
The song is "Ca et La", a bonus track on the vinyl release of Firin' in Fouta.
I was hoping it was one of the songs I knew, but I had to dig. The key was the credit. It's from this DVD.
I've mostly listened to this song. I have the single (for the linked remix: Fila Brazillia was my band) and the album of the same name.
Wow, thank you! That'll teach me to to believe some random commenter on YouTube.
Looks like that's a Senegalese cassette-only release or bootleg. It could be on that, as well.
It's not. (I spent my time researching that obscure cassette rather than following your much more fruitful path of looking up the DVD.)
I almost went with this video, but it's a little quieter. What I like about it is the way Maal uses his guitar to imitate the sound of the kora.
