Baaba Maal – Ca et La

Following up on yesterday, I did also listen to West African music while in Senegal. I also took a dance class with live drumming, which was fantastic.

Youssou N'Dour and Baaba Maal were the Senegalese musicians I probably heard the most while I was there, so here's something from Maal. This one starts off pretty quiet, but give it until about the 2:30 mark when it picks up.

Bombino – Azamane Tiliade

As I mentioned in passing last Friday, I bought all of three albums released in 2013 last year. The other two have been featured already in the Best of 2013 roundup. Fortunately for all of us, the third is no less awesome.

Nomad is by Omara Moctar, better known as Bombino, a guitarist and singer from Niger.  He is Tuareg and sings in the Tamashek language. The album is produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys.
