Tyler Duffey leads the Red Wings to a split.  Max Kepler and David Hurlbut lead the Lookouts to victory.  Stephen Gonsalves pitches well in a Miracle loss.  Nick Gordon and Edgar Corcino lead the Kernels to a win.  Cody Stashak continues to impress for the E-Twins.  Christian Cavaness keeps hitting for the GCL Twins.  The DSL Twins get blown out.

ROCHESTER 7, BUFFALO 0 IN BUFFALO (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Batting stars:  Byron Buxton was 1-for-3 with a triple and a walk, scoring twice and driving in two.  Danny Ortiz was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 1-for-4 with a home run, his fourteenth.

Pitching stars:  Tyler Duffey pitched six shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks with five strikeouts.  Aaron Thompson pitched a scoreless innings, giving up two hits with one strikeout.

Opposition star:  Matt Hague was 1-for-3 with a double.

The game:  Ortiz doubled home a run in the first, a sacrifice fly scored one in the second, and Argenis Diaz delivered an RBI triple in the fourth to make it 3-0.  The Bisons did not get a hit until two out in the fourth, when Hague doubled.  The Red Wings added four runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Of note:  James Beresford was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.

BUFFALO 9, ROCHESTER 0 IN BUFFALO (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

Batting star:  James Beresford was 2-for-4.

Pitching star:  Cole Johnson pitched three innings, giving up one run on three hits and two walks with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Ty Kelly was 2-for-4 with a grand slam.  Alex Hassan was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks, scoring twice and driving in one.  Chad Jenkins pitched three shutout innings despite allowing six hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

The game:  The Bisons scored two in the first and one in the second.  In the third, Kelly's grand slam was part of a five-run inning that put the game out of reach.  The Red Wings put two men on in each of the first three innings and got a man to third in the fourth, but were 0-for-6 with men in scoring position.

Of note:  Byron Buxton was 1-for-4.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 1-for-4.  Kennys Vargas was 0-for-2 with a walk.  Jason Wheeler pitched 2.1 innings, giving up eight runs (six earned) on seven hits and three walks with no strikeouts.

CHATTANOOGA 6, MOBILE 2 IN CHATTANOOGA

Batting stars:  Max Kepler was 3-for-5 with a triple and a double, scoring twice.  Travis Harrison was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in three.  Niko Goodrum was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.

Pitching stars:  David Hurlbut struck out seven in 7.2 innings, giving up two runs on nine hits and no walks.  Brandon Peterson struck out three in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Sean Jamieson was 2-for-3 with a run.  Tom Belza was 2-for-4 with a run.  Raul Navarro was 2-for-4.

The game:  Jorge Polanco singled in a run in the third to put the Lookouts up 1-0.  Harrison had a two-run single in a three-run sixth that made it 4-0.  The BayBears opened the eighth with three singles, leading to two runs and cutting the lead to 4-2.  The Lookouts got the runs back in the bottom of the eighth and that took care of the game.

Of note:  Shannon Wilkerson was 1-for-5.  Polanco was 1-for-4 with an RBI.  D. J. Hicks was 0-for-2 with two walks and a run.  Adam Brett Walker II was 0-for-4.

ST. LUCIE 3, FORT MYERS 1 IN ST. LUCIE

Batting stars:  Tanner Vavra was 3-for-4 with a double.  Mitch Garver was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks.  Engelb Vielma was 1-for-3 with a triple and a run.

Pitching stars:  Stephen Gonsalves pitched six innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

Opposition stars:  Dominic Smith was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Jhoan Urena was 1-for-1 with a triple and a run.  Marcos Molina pitched 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and one walk with one strikeout.

The game:  Each team scored once in the second.  It stayed 1-1 until the seventh.  The Miracle failed to score in the top of the inning despite loading the bases.  Lednier Ricardo singled home the go-ahead run for the Mets in the bottom of the seventh and Urena tripled and scored in the eighth.  The last seven Miracle batters were retired, four by strikeout.

Of note:  Ryan Walker was 0-for-5.  Aderlin Mejia was 0-for-3 with a walk.  Marcus Knecht was 0-for-3 with a walk.

CEDAR RAPIDS 5, LAKE COUNTY 4 IN LAKE COUNTY

Batting stars:  Nick Gordon was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in two.  Edgar Corcino was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.  Tanner English was 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs.

Pitching stars:  Keaton Steele pitched six innings, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts.  Nick Anderson struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up two hits.

Opposition stars:  Steven Patterson was 1-for-4 with a home run, his second.  Taylor Murphy was 1-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Yonathan Mendoza was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The game:  It was tied 2-2 after one and 3-3 after six.  Gordon's two-run double in the seventh put the Kernels ahead to stay.  Patterson homered in the bottom of the seventh to make it 5-4 and the Captains got the tying run to third later in the inning.  They also got the tying run to third with none out in the ninth.

Of note:  Zack Larson was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

ELIZABETHTON 3, GREENEVILLE 1 IN GREENEVILLE

Batting stars:  Daniel Kihle was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Jermaine Palacios was 1-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.  Amaurys Minier was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Pitching stars:  Cody Stashak struck out nine in five shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks.  Logan Lombana struck out six in three shutout innings, giving up two hits.

Opposition stars:  Connor Goedert was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Christian Correa was 1-for-3 with a double.  Albert Abreu struck out five in four shutout innings, allowing four hits.

The game:  Minier had an RBI single in a two-run first.  The Twins added a run in the fifth to go up 3-0.  The Astros did not score until the ninth and did not bring the tying run up to bat.

Of note:  LaMonte Wade was 0-for-4 with two RBIs.  Brian Olson was 2-for-4.

GCL TWINS 8, GCL RAYS 5 AT RAYS

Batting stars:  Christian Cavaness was 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk, scoring three times and driving in two.  Josmil Pinto was 2-for-5 with a three-run homer.  Luis Arraez was 4-for-5 with a run and an RBI.

Pitching stars:  Matz Schutte pitched two innings, giving up an unearned run on a hit and a walk with one strikeout.  Callan Pearce pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Joseph Astacio was 2-for-4 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in one.  Garrett Whitley was 2-for-5 with a triple and a double, driving in one.  Matt LeVert struck out seven in three shutout innings, allowing three hits and a walk.

The game:  Leading 1-0, the Twins scored four in the second to take control of the game.  Cavaness had an RBI triple and Pinto hit a three-run homer in the inning.  The Twins led by 8-2 after four.  The Rays got one in the sixth and two in the ninth but never brought the tying run up to bat.

Of note:  Roberto Gonzalez was 1-for-5.  Jovani Moran struck out four in four innings but gave up two runs on four hits and a walk.

DSL YANKEES1 13, DSL TWINS 2 AT YANKEES1

Batting stars:  Yeltsin Encarnacion was 2-for-4 with a triple, scoring once and driving in one.  Jhonathan Alvarez was 2-for-3 with a run.

Pitching star:  Luis Gil struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Leobaldo Cabrera was 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs.  Carlos Gallardo was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Gabriel Giron pitched five innings, allowing one run on three hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

The game:  Gallardo's two-run single was part of a three-run fourth that put the Yankees1 up 5-0.  It was 6-1 after five and 8-1 after six.  The Yankees1 scored five in the seventh to put the finishing touches on the victory.

Of note:  Francisco Hernandez was 0-for-4.  Gorge Munoz was 0-for-4.  Jorge Parra was 0-for-3.  Gabriel A. Ynfante was 0-for-2 with a walk.
