Carassco v. Milone
Twins the chance to win their second straight series and get back above .500 on the season. Considering how poorly things have gone since the All-Star Break, I'll take that as a sign of improvement.

Klutch Kurt!
I'm always happy when they hit the mistake, rather than fouling it off.
Yeah, Sano has done that twice today.
Random thing I find enjoyable
Rick Reed : 65 starts (as a Twin) 25-25 W/L 4.45 ERA 390.2 IP 235 K
Kyle Gibson: 64 starts 23-25 4.48 372.0 239K
Reed much more of a flyball pitcher and control artist. He was very good for the Twins in 2002 when Radke was hurt for much of the season. People just remember when he wasn't very good right after the trade.
Oh yeah, they are two completely different pitchers in their style, but a lot of the numbers are fairly close.
Also, Reed was pretty much starting the downside of his career when with the Twins, while Gibson's numbers are improving.
Also, Reed pitched in a much higher offensive environment.
A lot of ground balls for Milone today. I like.
Four pitches, four swings today for Robinson. I don't think he's getting anymore fastballs down the middle today.
I'll be really happy once balls and strikes are called by technology rather than by humans.
Yeah. Gameday says Ball 2 to Gomes should have been strike 3. Fortunately, it only delayed the strikeout by 1 pitch.
Makeup call on ball 4 to Sano. Wow.
Wow. Sano with the stolen base. I guess he's trying to prove that he doesn't need a pinch runner for him late in the game.
Some day I'll be able to tell my kid that I was at the game when Sano stole his first base.
So, you're assuming he's going to steal another one. That's good.
You must be so bummed that your missing out on this murderously hot weather down here.
We went to Minnehaha Falls yesterday. People were talking about the heat. It was about 78Β°. It was nice to be back where that's considered hot.
Pretty sure I felt the second level of the left field stands wobbling while people were dancing after the 7th inning stretch.
Did I just hear that May is going back to the bullpen? They're that enamored with Big Pelf?
TBH, I prefer May being the 8th inning guy over Fien, Jepsen, Duensing, .... every other pitcher but Perkins.
But that experiment should only be for this year.
Yeah, my hope is the Twins will put their offseason focus in putting together a lights-out bullpen.
Finding a good catcher to work with the young pitchers would be nice.
I think the Twins will trade Plouffe for a catcher or shorstop and will go cheap on whatever position they don't get and will look for free agent relievers. Hopefully, they've learned to avoid the Stauffers and the Boyers of the world and look at actual K rates instead of just velocity.
I read last week that the Twins are discussing 2 year extension for Plouffe. I think it was Doogie.
I wouldn't be opposed to that. Better to give the money to Plouffe than i-i.
Unless they can land a young shortstop somehow I'd rather they find a solid, all- defense veteran shortstop. They have plenty of younger guys who can hit already.
Well, we got it to Perkins and Perkins won't have to face Santana, so things are looking good.
An insurance run or two here would be really nice.
There's one!
PLOUFFE!
Plouffe!! insurance
Provus: "The Twins home run numbers are climbing."
Me: It would be really strange if they were decreasing.
If Rosario had a career like Tony O, I would be very happy.
Yes!
minus the knees π
Yes.
Its been a while since Rosario hit a triple
Now we just need a double from Nunez and a single from Suzuki.
That play is sure a lot of fun when it works.
squeeeeeeeeeeeeze!
A bunt? Now how is Nunez supposed to get a double on a bunt? Oh well. We're still just a double shy of an inning cycle, just would have loved to see a pure cycle.
Oh FFS, Nunez.
I said double, not double play.
It always makes me nervous when the broadcasters start talking as if we've already won before the game is over.
Two series wins in a row!
Atteberry said this is the first time since June 3-4 that Perkins has pitched on consecutive days. I would not have guessed that.
It's only the third time since the break that Perkins has been used on less than two days rest. His problems haven't been from overuse, at least not as of late. The Twins have struggled so much, he just hasn't had many save opps or even chances to pitch in tie games late.
Looking at when he's pitched, I wonder if his problems could be from underuse.
walking on eggshells I'm guessing, after last season
so, watching the recap. How do you score the bases-loaded, 2-out dropped third strike to end the inning? Suzuki stepped on the plate rather than tagging the batter. Is that a K for Milone and a force-out at home?
I would assume so.
