ROCHESTER 4, PAWTUCKET 2 IN ROCHESTER
Batting stars: Danny Santana was 3-for-4 with a home run (his third) and a double, driving in three. Aaron Hicks was 1-for-4 with a double and a run.
Pitching stars: Jose Berrios pitched six innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks with five strikeouts. Mark Hamburger pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits with one strikeout.
Opposition stars: Chris Marrero was 2-for-4 with a home run (his sixth) and two RBIs. Jonathan Aro pitched two perfect innings with one strikeout. Allen Craig was 2-for-4.
The game: Santana doubled home a run in the first and singled one in as part of a two-run second that put the Red Wings ahead 3-0. Marrero homered in the fourth to make it 3-1 but Santana homered in the fifth to get the run back. The Red Sox scored once in the eighth and had the tying run on base with two out, but their last four batters were retired.
Of note: James Beresford was 0-for-4. Kennys Vargas was 1-for-4. Josmil Pinto was 0-for-3 with a walk.
BIRMINGHAM 5, CHATTANOOGA 4 IN BIRMINGHAM (10 INNINGS)
Batting stars: Shannon Wilkerson was 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs. Jorge Polanco was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Adam Brett Walker II was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Pitching star: Aaron Slegers pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on six hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
Opposition stars: Tim Anderson was 3-for-5 with a triple and a double, scoring twice. Tim Crabbe struck out four in four innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits and a walk. Tony Thomas was 1-for-3 with a double and two walks, scoring twice.
The game: Trailing 2-1 through five, the Lookouts scored three in the sixth to go ahead 4-2. Polanco brought home two on a single-plus-error and Walker II doubled home the third run. It stayed 4-2 until the ninth, when Nick Delmonico hit a two-out two-run double to tie the score. In the tenth, Danny Hayes led off with a triple, followed by two intentional walks. The next batter struck out, but Marcus Lemon singled home the winning run.
Of note: Max Kepler was 0-for-4 with a run. Travis Harrison was 1-for-3 with an RBI. D. J. Hicks was 0-for-4.

PEORIA 1, CEDAR RAPIDS 0 IN PEORIA
Batting stars: Austin Diemer was 2-for-3. T. J. White was 1-for-3 with a walk.
Pitching stars: Felix Jorge struck out six in 6.2 innings, giving up an unearned run on six hits and a walk. Michael Theofanopoulos retired all four batters he faced, striking out three of them.
Opposition stars: Matt Pearce pitched six shutout innings, allowing three hits and no walks with four strikeouts. Oscar Mercado was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Nick Thompson was 1-for-2 with a walk.
The game: An error, a stolen base, a wild pitch, and Mercado's single put the Chiefs up 1-0 before any of their batters were retired. That was all the Chiefs would get, but it was all they would need. The Kernels put two men on in the first and in the seventh, but never got a man past second base.
Of note: Rafael P. Valera was 0-for-4. Nick Gordon was 0-for-4. Max Murphy was 0-for-3.
ELIZABETHTON 6, BRISTOL 5 IN ELIZABETHTON (10 INNINGS)
Batting stars: Jermaine Palacios was 3-for-6 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one. Zander Wiel was 1-for-4 with a double and a walk, driving in two. Manuel Guzman was 1-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one.
Pitching stars: Logan Lombana pitched three shutout innings, giving up three hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Kuo Hua Lo struck out three in a scoreless inning, giving up no hits and no walks.
Opposition stars: Raul Siri was 1-for-5 with a three-run homer. Erik Lunde was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk. Carlos Ozuna was 2-for-5 with a double and a run.
The game: Siri's three-run homer in the second put the Pirates up 3-0. The Twins got one back in the third, then scored three in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead. Guzman doubled in one of the runs and Wiel doubled home the other two. The Pirates took a 5-4 lead in the ninth on only one hit, getting a hit batsman, two walks, and an error. A Pirate error in the bottom of the ninth allowed the tying run to score. In the tenth Palacios doubled with one out, went to third on a ground out, and scored on a wild pitch to win the game for the Twins.
Of note: LaMonte Wade was 2-for-5 with a run. Brian Olson was 1-for-4 with a walk. Cody Stashak struck out five in three innings but gave up three runs on five hits and a walk.
