Terry Collins or Joe Maddon was very close for me, because I didn't expect either the Mets or the Cubs to be any damn good this year and there they were playing for the pennant.
I expected more of the Cubs than I did of the Mets. I agree though, close call between them.
I prefer Collins over Maddon because Showtime.
Clint Hurdle deserved consideration, I think. For a guy with old school tendencies he has certainly embraced some new thought on on-field management.
Paul Molitor was the manager, but Torii should get all the credit.
Huh. Apparently Ballast Point is worth $1B.
You're in the wrong gig, cheaptoy.
I will reiterate my willingness to be a ground-floor investor in the brewery.
beer seems to be the most recession proof product going.
Just read this article suggesting not only recession proof, but good for community development too!
my dad works with a feminine hygiene rep who says the same about his products
Companies producing toilet paper probably think they're #2 on the list of recession-proof industries.
Oy, what a crappy joke!
Gotta drown those recession sorrows in something.
Damn, I'll say. I wish I could get this thing up and running so I could sell out. (I would totally sell out for a billion.)
Well, a $Billion minus my percentage as I too am willing to sell out for that kind of money
And me too.
Huh. I bought Commodore Stout today without even seeing this.
yay! Zach Lowe is writing columns again! Here is along read about the state of our favorite basketball team
With a little shout out to Simmons.
Hey bS, something cool coming to your neighborhood
Oooh.
I went to a Sacramento FC game this summer with a season-ticket holding friend. That was awesome. This sounds like it could be similarly fun.

Here you go hj:
And the SQL to generate it for those that might be curious:
*impressed whistle*
I made the top 4. (insert appropriate emjoi here).
I'm #1 & #2! π
(#1 doesn't count though)
Wow, I... Made the list twice! (#6 and #7).
where did I hide that like button? Aw, shit, I'll just not rate your next video and we'll call it square.
Fair enough, fair enough.
And #2 has changed now.
Like I don't get enough SQL with work.
I'd hate your job...squirrels are nothing more than glorified rats.
I call them tree rats.
rodent-monkeys.
squirrels? Dude, it's pronounced (by some) "sequel". That said, maybe squirrels are better than some sequels.
That said, the sequel: my favorite tree rat comic
This is awesome, sean.
Best SQL since "Star Wars: The Franchise Has Become a Joke"
Would Magic Mike XXL be the best sequel since SQL then?

I don't recall there being an Ugly Kid Joe day.
Ah, I was in Vancouver.
I could have increased that ratio significantly.
That has not aged well. I had to give it a low rating.
So, Oxford Dictionaries Word of the Year is . . . not a word.
My favorite emoji, followed closely by the skull one.
my favorite too
second is the smiley with heart eyes
third is 100
? (U+1F60D: SMILING FACE WITH HEART-SHAPED EYES).
? (U+1F4AF: HUNDRED POINTS SYMBOL).
How does the coding work to put these in?
I copied them from the Emoji page because I don't know how else to type them.
You're implying there's some other wayβ½β½β½β½
I'm still not comfortable using emojis.
I use them from time to time, but I always get an uncomfortable "I'm too old for this and probably doing it wrong" feeling when I do.
lol!

Looks like something from The Oatmeal.
you've never seen table flipping guy? he sustains at least 15% of the interwebz.
ha! your payback for your "netflix and chill" smugness. π
He isn't wrong though... It does look like something from the Oatmeal.
vindication!
I've never seen that one. I'm not ready for smiley faces, but I may be willing to flip tables.
I think that guy is filled with too much rage.
Here, let me put it back. β¬ββ¬γ( ΒΊ _ ΒΊγ)

pretty much every emoji(/emoticon (technically)) comes down to this guy:

(as it should)
Bud Selig?
I make it a point to not use those things, let alone even use the word for em. I am of the opinion that these things make communication harder, dammit.
This.
Every. Single. Text. message I get from my brother in law contains about seventeen different emoticons, each repeated probably a dozen times sequentially:
π π π π π π π π π ;)???????????????????????
He includes all of his siblings and their spouses and everyone responds with a deluge of the newest emoji they've learned.
The only one on the message younger than me is my wife.
Mrs. Hayes gently mocks me for my insistence on not using them and not wanting to even know the meanings of any of them other than the obvious faces. We have these fabulous inventions called "words" that we already use! These other things are digital hieroglyphs.
I limit myself to π and π with my work IM, which being a telecommuter I end up using all the time. They have their place, but only when used sparingly.
Have I got the book for you then!
Despite the URL, it appears to be SFW!
how does one find that in the OED?
It's under ?. That comes after the ?section but before the ? section.
after hurricanes and before rockets... check.
The emoji page in the Repository is helpful.

I think you mean ? ? ?.
\m/ <== I don't know how to do this on keyboard. (that's my favorite emoji.)
Ugh, and the backslash doesn't show up. I give up.
There, I hard coded it.
hey, my guy was just waving back to that humpbacked mutant up there, not jumping up and down like an idiot!
Not sure what you're talking about...

That's, U+1F64C: PERSON RAISING BOTH HANDS IN CELEBRATION.
Im pretty sure the Wolves and Wild have played at the same time 7 times this year. But I will be focused more on the Wolves.
FWIW, the Wild/Penguins game is on NBCSN tonight.
;οΈ΅;
I do believe you made the correct choice.
Boy howdy. Glad I stuck with that.
Whoa, last I had checked in the Wolves were up 2. Next thing I know they've won convincingly. It's almost like hey are better with a real point guard.
Yeah, it was a good time. There were a lot of hand-claps down the stretch. No matter how quiet I try to be during a game if people are trying to go to sleep, I can't avoid the hand clap.
I saw the ugly parts of the 2nd for the Wild, came home, and saw that they made it close and at least make it sporting for the last 5 minutes. Agreed that the Dubnyk as divine savior strategy is not sustainable.
And the Wolves win in Miami, pulling away at the end. Did not see that coming. Andrew Wiggins is probably going to need an icebath tonight.
Wiggins missed this dunk, but whoa. And an awesome still shot.
