Twins affiliates get swept. Poor starting pitching throughout. Daniel Palka stayed hot, at least.
ROCHESTER AT PAWTUCKET
Rained out.
MOBILE 6, CHATTANOOGA 5 IN MOBILE
The Lookouts came back from a 5-1 deficit only to see Ronnie Freeman hit a walkoff homer leading off the ninth. Daniel Palka had hit a two-run homer in the sixth to bring Chattanooga back to 5-4. David Hurlbut pitched five innings, allowing five runs on nine hits and no walks with three strikeouts. The home run was Palka's fourth and he went 2-for-4, raising his average to .319. Travis Harrison and Joe Maloney also went 2-for-4.
ST. LUCIE 8, FORT MYERS 3 IN ST. LUCIE
A three-run fourth put the Mets up 5-1 and left them in control of the game. Keaton Steele lasted only four-plus innings, giving up seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and four walks with three strikeouts. Logan Wade was 3-for-4 with a double. Nick Gordon again did not play. He was injured Tuesday in a collision with outfielder Chad Christensen on a pop fly. He has not been placed on the disabled list.
GREAT LAKES 3, CEDAR RAPIDS 0 IN GREAT LAKES
Each team had only three hits, but Kernels starter Sam Gibbons walked five and hit one and that made the difference. A leadoff walk in the third came around to score and the Loons scored two in the fifth without a hit, on three walks, a hit batsman, and a wild pitch. Gibbons did strike out eight in 4.1 innings. Luis Arraez was 0-for-4, dropping his average to .302. LaMonte Wade did not play.
