Minor Details: Games of May 10

A big inning carries Rochester.  A big Chattanooga comeback falls short.  Fort Myers loses late.  A split for Cedar Rapids.

ROCHESTER 9, GWINNETT 3 IN ROCHESTER

A seven-run fourth inning gave the Red Wings a big lead they never relinquished.  They got the benefit of four walks and an error in the inning, which also featured a two-run double by Max Kepler.  Kepler went 3-for-4 with a walk.  Byron Buxton was 2-for-5.  Tommy Milone pitched 5.2 innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits and no walks with five strikeouts.

PENSACOLA 10, CHATTANOOGA 9 IN CHATTANOOGA (11 INNINGS)

The Lookouts trailed 8-2 after six and a half, tied it up going to ninth, trailed 9-8 going to the bottom of the ninth, tied it again, but still lost.  Phillip Ervin's homer in the eleventh made the difference.  Travis Harrison was 4-for-6 with a walk.  Leonardo Reginatto was 3-for-6 with a double and raised his average to .316.  D. J. Hicks was also 3-for-6 with a double.  Nick Greenwood made his Lookouts debut and lasted just five innings, giving up five runs on nine hits and no walks with four strikeouts.

BRADENTON 6, FORT MYERS 2 IN FORT MYERS

The Miracle had only three hits in the game, but still led 2-1 after six.  Michael Suchy's three-run homer in the seventh put the Marauders up to stay.  Kohl Stewart had pitched six strong innings before weakening in the seventh, but still put up a line of 6.1 innings, three runs (two earned), seven hits, no walks, and four strikeouts.  Nick Gordon remains on the disabled list with a concussion.

KANE COUNTY 2, CEDAR RAPIDS 0 IN CEDAR RAPIDS (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

The Cougars got single runs in the second and fifth and the Kernels had only two hits, both singles.  The hits came from their two best batters:  LaMonte Wade, who went 1-for-3 and is now batting .352, and Luis Arraez, who also went 1-for-3 and is now batting .311.  Cody Stashak took the tough loss, going six innings and giving up two runs on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  His ERA is now 1.95.

CEDAR RAPIDS 3, KANE COUNTY 2 IN  CEDAR RAPIDS (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

Luis Arraez' RBI double in the sixth broke a 2-2 tie and carried the Kernels to a win.  Miles Nordgren struck out nine in five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and no walks.  A. J. Murray led the offense, going 3-for-4 with a triple and a double.  Luis Arraez was 2-for-4 with a double to raise his average to .321.  LaMonte Wade was 1-for-3 with a walk to make his average .351.
