On this day in 1910, Old Comiskey opened. I leave it to you to decide whether this signalled the fall of western civilization. "The park was built on a former city dump that Comiskey bought in 1909 to replace the wooden South Side Park."

I've never heard of someone breaking their foot while running the bases, at least not without sliding into something.
Yikes. Shades of Glenn Williams/Moonlight Graham? I hope he makes it back to active duty in the Majors.
Sano activated, Park sent down.
So, what exactly is happening to Park. I haven't been paying a great deal of attention, but is there something that is affecting him or some other reason why he's struggling? Not sure if anyone knows anything.
the 2016 Twins season. it's affecting all of us
He jumped from KBO to MLB. KBO is ~AA so I think Park got lucky to start the season and now pitchers have adjusted.
I don't think he got lucky, but I agree that pitchers have adjusted. There was some mention that Molitor told Park 2 or 3 weeks ago to stop using some mechanical adjustments he had made (presumably with hitting coach) to adjust to MLB because it was messing him up. Basically, Molitor wanted him to use what had been successful for him in Korea. I'm guessing the adjustments were needed but it was too difficult to try to make them at MLB level. Hopefully, he can go to AAA and make the adjustments work before coming back up.
He's also been icing his wrists after every game, so I assume they must be sore. It's hard enough to hit in the majors, but it's rare that someone can hit well with sore wrists.
Sano starting at third base. Sounds like he'll only occasionally be used in OF. My guess would be against left-handers when Kepler is not swinging as well or needs a day off and Mauer is swinging well.
You forgot to mention Happy Bobby Bonilla Day!

I did not know this part. After using the money to get Hampton, and reach the World Series, he left in free agency.
Seems like the Mets made a great deal in hindsight.
Off to New Ulm. Not sure if we're going to be there for two days and a wedding or longer and a funeral. Stressful packing.
that does sound kinda stressful. Best wishes, AMR.

Well... bought a used Accord hybrid.
That makes me miss my 89 Accord coupe I to have. Man I loved that car (pop-up headlights!)
INteresting. Keep us informed on your satisfaction with the purchase. Like I said before, I'm attracted to the concept, but wary.
Well, this makes us a three hybrid household*
*technically two households since Runner daughter moved out
I'm not against the idea of getting a hybrid, but I need to stick with traditional internal combustions so I can keep it manual. A full electric is the only thing I'd be willing to go auto for. Fortunately, I get better mpg's than most hybrids and I'm in no position to be able to get a new car right now anyway.
