That's a lot of folk left on base through three innings.
13 up/down
With an error!
No-no, gone-gone.
To Billy Butler. I mean, come on.
That works!
A little discouraging that that's only Mauer's ninth double, though.
Why do I like Atteberry? Well, the mention of "three true outcomes" is one reason.
I actually heard Corey discussing FIP in positive terms yesterday during the delay.
"Turning it over to someone who can read these things better than I can...and also, he's a ninja. Here's Cory Provus"
Attaboy is better than Dazzle (not saying much), but a lot of times I think he tries too hard. He doesn't get a chance very often, so it's like he thinks he has to make a big impression, rather than just letting the game happen and dropping things in as they become relevant.
I agree; the Dennis Miller effect. Still, he's an intellectual breath of fresh air over Dazzle.
TWINS BASEBALL!!
It would be cool for Santana to get a shutout.
might do it under 100 pitches, too
Exactly 100. Just missed a Maddux. He ended up with a game score of 98.
Gameday says 98 but that seemed really high. (J) Santana's 17 K game scored a 95. I did the math and I get a 91. Going with a score of 91, it's the highest since Baker's near perfecto where he got a 93. That was in 2007. The best score after 2010 is Diamond's shutout in 2012 with an 88.
It ties five other games at 13th in Twins history for at most nine innings. Extending to all games and it's an eight-way tie at 15th.
Yeah, 98 would've been the highest of the year. 91 is still very, very good.
And wasn't Diamond's shutout was an 87?
Yes. Still the best score over the miserable years.
By a ways, I imagine.
Johan only had 2 games that were 91 or better with the Twins. One of them was his 17K game. Liriano never had a game score that good with the Twins, including his no-hitter (6 walks and few Ks.)
Viva Santana!
That should help his trade status.
Joe drives in the first RBI with a hit, then the last three come via a walk and 2 sac flies -- TWINS BASEBALL!!!!
Well, with all those 2-out RBIs yesterday, regressing to the mean was overdue. Still, the Twins had no run-scoring hits with RISP and still scored 4 runs.
Fun game! When did Santana cut his hair?
It's been a while now
Since it wasn't televised in Minnesota, you can watch the condensed game of the A's video feed here.
