Minor Details: Games of July 15

A Walker II homer wins it for the Red Wings.  The Lookouts didn't look out well enough.  Dereck Rodriguez gets his first win in two months.

ROCHESTER 8, NORFOLK 6 IN ROCHESTER

The Red Wings lost leads of 4-1, 5-4, and 6-5, but Adam Brett Walker II's two-run homer (his seventeenth) in the eighth finally put them in the lead to stay.  Logan Darnell lasted only 3.2 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk with two strikeouts.  Sean Burnett gave up an unearned run in one inning to lower his ERA to 1.85.  Buddy Boshers was not charged with a run in two-thirds of an inning, making his ERA 1.27.  Walker II was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk in addition to his home run.  Darin Mastroianni was 2-for-4 with two doubles.  Wilfredo Tovar was 2-for-3 with a double.

MOBILE 20, CHATTANOOGA 2 IN CHATTANOOGA

The BayBears scored four in the first and six in the fourth, taking an 11-1 lead.  Omar Bencomo, in his first appearance off the disabled list, allowed five runs on seven hits and a walk in three innings.  The next two pitchers did worse:  Ryan Eades gave up eight runs (six earned) on five hits and three walks in two innings and Luke Westphal yielded seven runs (five earned) on eight hits and four walks in 2.1 innings.  The Lookouts had only four hits.  Zach Granite was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .305.  Leonardo Reginatto was 0-for-4 and is batting .302.

FORT MYERS 4, TAMPA 3 IN TAMPA (6 1/2 INNINGS--RAIN)

Joe Maloney's two-run double was part of a three-run second that left the Miracle up 4-1.  They held on from there--the Yankees scored two in the fifth and had the tying run on second with one out, but did not get closer.  Randy LeBlanc pitched six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts.  We don't know if he gets a complete game for this--John Curtiss was announced as a relief pitcher but the game was called before he actually threw a pitch.  Nick Gordon was 1-for-3 and is batting .302.  Daniel Kihle was 1-for-3 and is batting .350.  LaMonte Wade was 0-for-1 with a walk and is batting .357.

CEDAR RAPIDS 6, LAKE COUNTY 1 IN LAKE COUNTY

Zander Weil's two-run homer, his eighth, in the third inning put the Kernels up 4-1.  Dereck Rodriguez had his second consecutive strong game and got his first win in two months, going six innings and giving up one run on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts.  Weil also had a double and a walk, going 2-for-3.  Casey Scoggins was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.  Jermaine Palacios was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Luis Arraez was 1-for-5 and is batting .333.

DANVILLE 8, ELIZABETHTON 6 IN DANVILLE

The Twins had leads of 3-1 and 6-4, but a four-run seventh, aided by two errors and two walks, but the Braves in the lead to stay.  The Twins had men on second and third with two out in the eighth, but their last four batters were retired.  Tyler Wells struck out five in 3.2 innings but allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks.  Roberto Gonzalez went 4-for-4 with two doubles to lead the offense.  Shane Carrier was 2-for-4.  Alex Kirilloff was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk and is batting .302.  Brandon Lopez was 0-for-3 with two walks and is batting .318.

GCL RED SOX 3, GCL TWINS 0 AT TWINS

The Red Sox scored all of their runs in the second inning.  A single, a hit batsman, and a walk loaded the bases and Lorenzo Cedrola unloaded them with a three-run double.  Huascar Ynoa struck out four in four innings but gave up three runs on five hits and three walks.  Moises Gomez and Callan Pearce each pitched two scoreless innings to keep their season ERAs at zero.  Gomez has pitched 11.1 innings and Pearce has pitched ten.  Lean Marrero was the only Twin with more than one hit, going 2-for-4.  Three of the Twins' starters had batting averages of less than .200.

DSL ROJOS 13, DSL TWINS 2 AT TWINS

The Rojos scored five in the third to take a 6-0 lead.  Pedro Garcia lasted only 2.1 innings, yielding six runs on six hits and three walks with one strikeout.  Danny Feliz made his 2016 debut by facing four batters, walking two and striking out two.  No Twin had more than one hit.  Edgar Herrera was 1-for-4 and is batting .300.  The Twins made four errors but allowed only one unearned run.
