Ouch. Mike Leake placed on the DL with shingles.
Ouch, indeed. I've had shingles, and I wouldn't wish them on anyone.
Ouch, I guess he's hit his ceiling.
dude, -1 WGOM buck for muffing a roof pun
I couldn't think of a good joke about hitting the roof, though clearly that would've been much stronger.
or at least less weaker
Apparently Cam Bedrosian's middle name is Rock, which I can only imagine is a reference to his dad's nickname. (I suppose "Rock" sounds cooler than "Chip.") He was born on an off-day: 2 October 1991. His dad returned to action the next day in the seventh inning of the second game of a doubleheader against the White Sox and surrendered a grand slam to Carlton Fisk. Read Scot's write-up of the doubleheader over at his place.
Since we're getting into some pretty ugly territory with this losing streak, I figured I'd look at what history the Twins are approaching.
Longest Twins losing streak: 14
Longest franchise losing streak: 18
Longest AL losing streak: 21
Longest MLB losing streak: 23
I really don't want this to go on for another 2 weeks. Then again, I might actually watch more of the games, kind of like passing an accident on the freeway. So hard to look away the worse it is.
They're still playing?
I'm not good at history, but didn't this get you drowned in Massachusetts once upon a time.

That's 105%!
I need everybody to be giving 110%!
101%. You forgot to do the evaporation.
You mean 97%
Yep, I'm going with 97 percent.
Crap, you're right.
93% x (100%-4%) + 6% + 2% = 97.3%.
2.7% tar?*
Looks like the Vikes are wrapping up the season early.
Non contact knee injury. Oofta.
Zimmer said he and general manager Rick Spielman had already discussed the possibly acquiring a veteran quarterback.
I hear Favre is available.
You HAD to go there.
Jeff George too
TEBOW! Oh, wait, he's a baseball player now. Tarvaris Jackson? Gus Frerotte? Joe Webb?
Spergon Wynn is probably available, too.
I don't know why no one is considering Brad Johnson.
or Steve Walsh.
oh! oh! oh! I know!
JOE MAUER!!!!1111one111!!!!
MOVE HM TO QB! GETRDUN BILLY!
What about Kurt Warner? Worked for the Rams in 2000
Actually, you may be onto something. Everyone! Start scouting your local grocery stores!
I wonder if they're pondering bringing in some organizational depth.
Oh you.
Ohoho
At least he will be able to walk. Doesn't sound like it is guaranteed he'll play again.
Have they said how it happened? I've never heard of a male pro athlete suffering that horrific of a leg injury on a noncontact play without slipping/twisting on a base or getting cleats stuck in a hole or on the old Astroturf.
Not to make light of the injury, which is awful, but Philosofette aptly summed up the Vikes/pro football:
Me: The Vikings lost their quarterback for the season.
Her: Oh? Injury or arrest?
Sorry for missing FMD last week, y'all. I was heading out of town on Wednesday and found out I didn't get an interview for a job that would have been perfect, spent 12 hours in the car, and got up way too early on a vacation Friday. I didn't even remember until Sunday. Gah.
all this time that Magoo has complained about bad puns around here? Who knew that he was trying to tell us that we might have brain damage.
With the opening of a new stadium and the injury to a key player before the season begins reminds me a lot of Joe Nathan tearing his UCL. Is Matt Capps still available?
