  1. With two more homers today, the Orioles are on pace for 258, just a few shy of the single season record. Unlike that Mariners team, though, the Orioles are not close to the lead league in runs.

    1. They are second in OPS, so sounds like they're getting a lot of solo homers. O's have same OPS+ as the Twins at 101 despite O's OPS being 22 points higher than the Twins. Camden is definitely playing like a bandbox these days.

    1. Thanks for the link, CH. This has been a particularly emotional weekend for me as I've been installing an exhibition at the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis. I wasn't really prepared to be working at the Lorain Motel, and I really wasn't ready to see the balcony where MLK jr's life was ended. This is a powerful place, and I totally recommend a visit if you're in Memphis.

      1. We had some very close friends move to Memphis last year when the husband became the director of the Stax Museum. We visited them last October, driving down & back in 36 hours. Although we didn't have time to visit the museum that trip, I insisted on going down to see the Lorraine Motel. Absolutely nothing can prepare you for the moment you see it. Mrs. Hayes was quite overcome and couldn't get closer than Mulberry Street, so she hung back with one of our friends. It took me a long time to move again after I found a spot underneath the balcony.

I think the only other place I've felt a feeling anything like the heaviness of the grief & sadness at opportunities lost that washed over me was in Ford's Theatre.
