OCTOBER 18, 2016: WHY IS IT SO DANG HOT?!

Part of picking October for surgery was the better weather; it was 90° yesterday (record: 88°) and 72° overnight (record: 66°) -- it's not helping my sleep at all 🙁

  1. There's been a lot of chatter on sports talk radio today about Cleveland using Kluber on short rest today. I can see risks either way, but I think I would pitch him today, too.

    1. If they win today, the World Series isn't until next Tuesday. That is a lot of time to rest and have Kluber start Game 1 again. If they don't win, Kluber could again start on short rest for Game 7. I think it makes sense.

      1. Francona said as much in his presser last night. I wonder how privately irate he is with Bauer.

        1. "This was not malicious," Francona said. "He could have been opening a box in the kitchen. Things happen. I wish it wouldn't have, but like I said, it wasn't done maliciously, it wasn't done by being silly. Just happened."

Given this quote, I'd say he's not upset at Bauer privately.

          1. That may very well be how he feels about it. On the other hand, he basically has to put the best face on it that he can, or it becomes the story and a major distraction. I'm not saying he's lying, but I am saying the incentive to sequester his feelings from public scrutiny is rather substantial.

    1. Has anything but publicity come from previous XPRIZEs? I'm highly dubious of the efficacy of this over the already present need to capture CO2.

      1. I don't know about previous, but if they can show real world results that can be profitable, I don't know why companies wouldn't look into doing something to help the environment that is profitable. It would be a win-win even if they are just looking for positive PR.

        1. This prize will a minimal impact on companies doing this research. It was already highly sought after and known to be really hard to solve. This is XPRIZE offering to add $5 to someone winning the lottery.

    1. I'm expecting my slow n sear sometime next week... I'm a bit jealous of the PBC purchase, but I'm pretty stoked for the grill add on.

      1. I had never heard of the Slow and Sear before last week, but definitely intrigued. I'll be curious to see how it works in practice for you
