Interesting to see that ESPN has more pregame baseball coverage than FOX, who is still showing football highlights
Joe Maddon is quite the manager, probably one of the top three in the game right now. That said, I don't understand the decision to start Heyward in an elimination game after the season he's had this year.
The Cubs haven't lost three consecutive games at Wrigley since July.
Then...they're due!
That ball was crushed!
Heyword going with the high degree of difficulty catch
I'm rooting for the Cubs tonight.
Mostly because I haven't seen more than three minutes of world series play before tonight. They need to extend this so that I can see some.
FOX executives also rooting for the Cubs.
I hate to have the same rooting interest as Joe Buck, but...
Joe Buck roots for a sweep every year so he can be done broadcasting a sport he clearly does not like.
Buck apparently would love baseball if David Ross played every game. The fawning has been very over the top all series.
Now he has to go back to Cleveland, so haw haw.
Hey, we've seen both kinds of bunt that I actually like this inning!
A safety squeeze and an ambush.
Hey DPWY, a called strike Lester disagreed with!
hmmm, THAT'S a first.
His hissyfit during that last Kipnis at bat was to be expected.
I don't think I've ever seen someone cover second as well as Baez.
Quote from the announcement of the Reliever of the Year awards:
Well, i mean, obviously you're not going to be able to use Miller and Allen this way for an entire season, but I don't think that's what anyone is asking for.
Chapman coming in the 7th inning!
That surprised me because Maddon said his warm-up routine prevented coming into the game so early.
Apparently somebody skipped PFP.
Rajai Davis was 70% to second base before Chapmans ball reached the catcher.
Is Maddon really going to let Chapman hit?
His batting stance makes him look like a professional hitter.
Idefinitely had a WTF? moment he was taking his jacket off.
If he's solid through the 9th, Maddon's plan worked. If not, it was a wasted opportunity to get a professional at-bat.
Maddon appears to have lost all faith in Rondon, one of the best relievers in the NL the last 3 years
Remember that one time Joe Mauer hit a home run against Chapman? That was a good day.
I wish he was about to do it right now.
Oh man I messed that up. Mauer hit a double, then Josh Willingham clobbered a home run.
Buck says K. Suzuki with the last HR off of Chapman this season. That's fun.
The last two HRs off Chapman were hit by Twins! Escobar and Suzuki.
it's hard to get past sluggers like that without a donger or two.
Yup! I had to look it up: June 18 ... and the Twins still lost.
TWINS BASEBALL!!
It's been an underwhelming series given the historical significance for both teams, but this was an interesting game.
I came up with the theory tonight that the Cubs are going to win coming back from 3-1, ala the Cavs, due to karma from wearing chief wahoo all playoffs.
Maddon uses Chapman for a very long save and completely coincidentally, the Cubs also win.
