The Twins started this west coast trip tied for first place. After 7 games they are 1.5 games up. It sure doesn't seem like they have been playing winning baseball, but here we are.
Ervin Santana wil start for the Twins trying to get back to winning ways after a really bad performance last outing. For Ray Matt Moore goes for the Giants.
Fun fact! This will be the first time Santana has pitched against the Giants.
Got a cousin in SF who is a Giants fan; I'd trash talk with him, but I'm not sure he's following them quite as closely this year.
Santana, that horseshoe must be feeling quite uncomfortable by now
da wiggles
Erv!
helpin' the cause.
Sounds like a lot of Twins fans on hand tonight
Hope he doesn't get too tired with all the running.
bases loaded again? ervin just cleared them!
Is Kepleroni growing a mustache?
Wow, Erv is dealing. That was a beautiful 8th inning.
9th weren't so bad either. wow.
3 of the 4 hits were infield hits. 1 was a bunt, another was a bad hop single off Escobar's glove and the other was so close at first that they Twins thought about replaying it (I don't think there was enough to overturn it, but I doubt it would have been overturned if Nunez was called out as well).
Can you named the last Twins pitcher to have 3 shutouts in an entire season? I would be impressed if you came up with it without looking it up (or being told tonight by the media).
edit, not even close
The 91 pitches were the fewest for a Twins starter in a shutout since Brad Radke in 2001, almost exactly 16 years ago (6/12/01). That was back when you didn't have to go through security checks at the airport.
The last pitcher to pitch a shutout and also drive in at least three runs in a game:
The last AL pitcher to do it?
The last Twins player to do it?
The Twins have already spent more days in first place this season than the six previous seasons combined.
