Off-Seasons Greetings: Games of October 11

Leonardo Reginatto and Ryan Eades were the Twins stars yesterday.

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

SURPRISE 3, SALT RIVER 1 IN SALT RIVER

Twins:  LaMonte Wade was 0-for-3.  Ryan Eades pitched a scoreless inning, walking one.

Elier Hernandez (Kansas City) was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk to lead Surprise.  David Ledbetter (Texas) pitched three shutout innings, giving up two hits.

GLENDALE 5, PEORIA 4 IN GLENDALE

Glendale led 5-0 through seven, but Peoria scored one in the eighth and three in the ninth, putting the tying run on first before the game ended.  Seby Zavala (White Sox) was 2-for-3 with a walk and Mitch Keller (Pittsburgh) struck out four in three shutout innings to lead Glendale.

MESA 9, SCOTTSDALE 4 IN MESA

Mesa scored four in the sixth to take a 5-4 lead and scored four more in the seventh to put the game out of reach.  David Bote (Cubs) hit a three-run homer in the sixth and Sheldon Neuse (Oakland) hit a grand slam in the seventh.  Neuse and Bote were each 3-for-4.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Leonardo Reginatto (Margarita) was 2-for-4.  Edwar Colina (Magallanes) pitched one inning, giving up one run on no hits and one walk with one strikeout.  Henry Centeno (Magallanes) walked the only man he faced, and the man came around to score.

ANZOATEGUI 8, MARGARITA 1 IN ANZOATEGUI

Anzoategui scored five in the second to take control early.  Yeiper Castillo pitched 5.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and no walks with five strikeouts.

ARAGUA 5, LARA 2 IN ARAGUA

Trailing 2-1 through seven, Aragua scored four in the eighth to win.  Luis Villegas singled home the tying run and scored the go-ahead run on a Miguel Mendez triple.  Villegas also homered in the game.

ZULIA 6, MAGALLANES 4 IN ZULIA

All the runs on both sides were scored in the seventh inning, with a Zach Houchins grand slam making the difference.  Elieser Hernandez struck out six in five shutout innings, giving up just one hit and no walks.

CARACAS 3, LA GUAIRA 2 IN CARACAS

Caracas led 3-0 after three and held on.  La Guaira had the tying run on second in the seventh and ninth. Jesus Guzman was 3-for-4 with a double and Luke Irvine pitched five shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks to lead Caracas.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

HERMOSILLO 16, OBREGON 2 IN HERMOSILLO

Hermosillo scored five in the first and led 9-1 after two.  Alejandro Flores was 4-for-5 with two doubles and a triple and Carlos Alberto Gastellum was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk to lead Hermosillo.  Felix Pie (remember him?) was 0-for-2 for Obregon.

CULIACAN 5, NAVOJOA 3 IN CULIACAN

Culiacan scored three in the first and never trailed, although Navojoa twice cut the margin to one run.  Jose Fuentes was 3-for-4 with a double and Sebastian Elizalde was 2-for-4 with a home run to lead Culiacan.  Chad Gaudin (remember him?) got the save with a scoreless inning.

JALISCO 5, MAZATLAN 4 IN MAZATLAN

Jalisco led 5-2 after eight, but Mazatlan scored twice in the ninth and got the tying run to first base.  Billy Burns was 2-for-5 with a triple to lead Jalisco.
