Off-Season’s Greetings: Games of December 13

A rough day for Anderson Munoz.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Willians Astudillo (Anzoategui) was 1-for-4.  Gregorio Petit (Caracas) was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Anderson Munoz (Caracas) pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing three runs on no hits and three walks.

LA GUAIRA 2, ANZOATEGUI 0 IN LA GUAIRA

La Guaira scored all the runs of the game in the seventh.  Anzoategui out-hit La Guaira 9-3.  For La Guaira, Junior Guerra pitched six shutout innings, giving up six hits and a walk and striking out five.  For Anzoategui, Daryl Thompson struck out six in six innings, giving up two unearned runs on two hits.

CARACAS 9, ZULIA 4 IN ZULIA

Zulia led 2-0 after two, but Caracas scored four in the third to go into the lead to stay.  The runs scored on Trayvon Robinson's two-run double and Jesus Aguilar's two-run homer.  Felix Perez was 3-for-4 for Caracas.  Aguilar's homer was his second and he had three RBIs.  Luis Diaz pitched six innings, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks and striking out five.

MAGALLANES 5, ARAGUA 1 IN MAGALLANES

Adonis Garcia hit a two-run homer in a three-run first and Magallanes led all the way.  Garcia was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and the home run was his second.  Ivan Pineyro pitched four shutout innings, giving up three hits and three walks.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  None.

JALISCO 12, OBREGON 4 IN OBREGON

Jalisco scored three in the first and led 7-0 after three.  Edson Garcia was 2-for-4 and three RBIs.  Manuel Al Flores pitched five innings, giving up one run on five hits and striking out four.

CULIACAN 3, LOS MOCHIS 2 IN LOS MOCHIS

Culiacan scored three in the fourth and that was all they needed.  Anthony Vasquez struck out six in six innings, giving up two runs on eight hits.  For Los Mochis, Michael Wing hit a home run, his third.  Luis Niebla pitched seven innings, giving up three runs on eight hits and two walks and striking out four.

MAZATLAN 7, HERMOSILLO 3 IN MAZATLAN

Corey Brown hit a two-run homer in a three-run fifth that broke a 2-2 tie.  Carlos Munoz was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.  Brown was 2-for-3 with a walk in addition to his eighth home run, scoring three times.  Dustin Crenshaw pitched 6.1 innings, giving up three runs on eight hits and striking out six.

MEXICALI 5, NAVOJOA 3 IN MEXICALI

Mexicali scored all of their runs in the fifth, turning a 2-0 deficit into a 5-2 lead.  Xorge Carrillo hit a home run, his third.  Justin DeFratus pitched six innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and striking out five.  For Navojoa, Randy Arozarena hit a home run, his fourteenth, and Max Ramirez hit a home run, his fifth.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Kennys Vargas (Aguilas) was 0-for-4.

LICEY 7, GIGANTES 6 IN LICEY (10 INNINGS)

Juan Francisco singled in a run in the ninth to tie it 6-6 and Erick Aybar singled in a run in the tenth to win it for Licey.  Donovan Solano was 3-for-4 with a walk.  Julio Borbon was 3-for-5 with a walk.  Yamaico Navarro was 2-for-5 with a two-run homer, his third.

ESTRELLAS 9, TOROS 2 AT ESTRELLAS

The Estrellas scored five in the first and were never threatened.  Jason Krizan was 3-for-5.  Evan MacLane pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits and striking out two.

ESCOGIDO 16, AGUILAS 2 AT AGUILAS

Escogido scored four in the first, four in the second, and seven in the fourth.  Starling Marte was 3-for-4 with a home run (his third) and four RBIs.  Danny Richar was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three runs.  For the Aguilas, Wilmer Difo hit a home run, his second.

AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE
