Game two against the Astros and their murderer's row of pitchers. Dallas Keuchel has been decent this year with a 3.27 ERA and 0-1 record. He in fact responsible for half of Houston's losses this year. Jake Odorizzi on the mound for the Twins, and looking to add to his stellar opening day outing.
Game at 7:10. Will be a little warmer, but not much. Would be nice to get some hot bats to warm up the crowd.
I love it when our boys turn a double play.
Assuming there's a reasonable chance of success, I like using the challenge here. even though it's the bottom of the first inning.
He beat it out, so it'll be overturned.
I thought Dozier was safe, glad replay confirmed that.
Come on, boys. Let's get an early lead.
Have to score at least one run this inning.
Well, we got at least one.
It's a step up from last night!
Escobar wouldn't exactly be the first one I'd think of to bat cleanup, but all we really need now is a single.
I guess we'll settle for a sac fly. At least it's a run!
Seems like the Twins have hit a lot of hard foul balls in this series.
Astros have good fielders.
And now it's two!
Nice first inning. Only eight to go!
Look at Robbie Grossman flashing his cannon arm!
Quiet in here tonight. At work, checking in. Ok... buh bye.
Looks like another night where the bullpen is going to have to soak up some innings. I think Berrios' CGSHO broke the starters (or its the cold weather)
Aaron Sanchez has completed seven no-hit innings. Unfortunately, it's a four-walk, four-strikeout performance so far.
Tim Beckham doubles to lead off the bottom of the eighth to end it.
A home run by Mauer would be an acceptable outcome.
A walk will do, however.
Good time for Mauer's first home run.
Mauer should hit a home run
A home run by Sano would be an acceptable outcome.
Walk is as good as a home run
A walk scored a run so good enough for me. That's Mauer's ninth walk this season.
So far in this series, Mauer 4 walks and a double.
Career walk 896
Long, long way to go to take over first: 425 more walks to tie.
Also looked up Mauer's rank in PA as a Twin. He's third, 382 behind Puckett, 569 behind Killebrew.
Yeah, he should pass Puck by the All Star break.
Mauer will pass 1000 strikeouts this season too
Hunter has 975 and Puckett has 965. Killebrew is at 1314. Mauer is going to finish this season first or second in everything but home runs.
A strikeout is not an acceptable outcome, especially on a pitch in the dirt.
I can see it, but that's still barely a swing by Sanó.
A home run by Escobar would be an acceptable outcome. Actually, so would a single.
Well, we got the run back, at least. And after more than an hour, we've already completed two innings!
Odorizzi caught Lynn's walkitis. Good thing Rhu_Ru isn't here to witness it.
They must have been reading our discussion about game length.
Walking the leadoff hitter every inning is not really the recommended procedure for a pitcher.
ugh, with all the walks
That last pitch looked like it was well in the strike zone, but the catch was crossed up a bit and the ump gave him a ball for a walk.
It was less outside than the one strike he got over in that at bat.
There's a hit for Morrison!
Unfortunately, the Twins didn't do anything else that inning.
Didn't walk the leadoff batter this time!
well, I hope our 'pen does better than their 'pen, 'cause it's not going to be the starters' game for long
RoboOdo umps now!Just left work and settled in at Copper Trail for a Copper Scotty. A fine Wee Heavy. Wanted to invite Nibbish but he left without saying good bye. I would accept a lead off double from Lamerre to make me feel better.
What a jerk!
I would've gladly had a copper scotty.
Admittingly, I was slow on the invite as a couple patrons were arguing with a server on tax of all things. A very small amount of tax. Do people realize we charge tax based on what the state/local gov'ment tells us to collect? Next time buddy!!
You never know when the computers just start forgetting the tax rates.
Next week for sure.
Could have used one tonight, though. Man, those were some brutal games.
sounds good on the beer next week! I thought the square tables would have helped your game.
Sounds like LaMarre is a little overmatched tonight.
Based on his track record prior to this year, it's a pretty good bet that the Twins will figure out that that's true in general.
True. But he really isn't doing any harm playing once a week and making an occasion pinch hit/ run appearance.
He does have a pretty good strike zone knowledge, which would be useful on occasions when someone temporarily turns Delmonesque *glares at left field*
Good God, that fourth pitch to Dozier was a ball?!
True Outcome Joe
Twins need to calibrate those bats.
Lots of missed chances already. Hope that doesn't come back to haunt us.
Dick Bremer talking about Tippy Martinez picking off 3 runners in one inning, well there is video!
Here's the game. Happened in the top of the tenth inning.
if they'd just stuck a runner at second to start the inning, it would have saved lots of people the eventual embarrassment
Just realized that yesterday's double was the 100th Joe Mauer hit I have seen in person.
and the other 99 were singles -- STribber
Is Maria Sharapova attending this game, or what?
SEND HIM!!
There goes Joe's chance for a Gold Glove.
He doesnt hit enough home runs to win a Gold Glove.
Re2pect
yikes
Dandy catch by Springer. Dang
I would have enjoyed watching Buxton lap Garver if that ball had dropped.
Oh yeah, that would have been fun!
JMIVGAB!

Sano is having a terrible night at the plate.
1997!
Apparently my feed is behind...
Miguel with the double digits LOB
Uhh...
Corbin with 7 K's through 3 innings.
I really enjoy watching those acrobatic infield plays like that. Fun.
Nice glove work & exchange.
Tried to embed video of Parks & Recs Puppy Party. No luck.
Too bad the official Community page didnt have its puppy parade on the tube
