    1. My thoughts, exactly. Nice to see LoMo get a mistake pitch and not miss it, especially since Archer had been centering quite a few pitches to the Twins. Mauer K-ed on a slider that looked to be in the same spot as LoMo's HR, but Mauer was out in front of it.

  1. What a terrible approach by the Rays. Lynn was struggling to even throw strikes in that inning and with the bases loaded and no outs, they swing at both pitches thrown and hit a popup and a tailor-made DP.

  2. When the Rays shortstop threw out Mauer, I hadn't seen his yellow sleeve before. When he threw the ball, I saw a sudden streak of yellow. I thought FSN had somehow put a yellow trail on the ball like some video games do to show the guy had thrown really hard.

    1. I would ignore tonight. He's had 10 days between starts. His command has been very off. His K rate is actually up. It's just he's walked way more than his career numbers, so we really haven't seen what you would expect from Lynn in that area.

  3. Twins need to punish the Rays. They've had the bases loaded and no outs and didn't score and they've ended 2 scoring threats with a base runner being thrown out.

  4. I was surprised Lynn came out for the 7th. I guess Molitor felt like with the bottom of the order up, that he could squeeze one more inning out of him. I just hope the decision wasn't made to get Lynn the win.

  5. Grossman has cost us 3 runs tonight. I think only 1 run would have scored on Span's double if Kepler was in RF and I think Kepler would have caught Span's single.

  6. Bert: Rogers left the breaking ball up too much.

Me: It was a perfectly located pitch on the corner on 3-2. Sometimes you have to give credit to the hitter, especially since it wasn't hit very hard. If anything, question the pitch selection since Span had to be looking for that to hit it like he did.

    1. Bert has said"he left that pitch up"so much that a lot of times he just uses it as a placeholder until he can think of something to say. I've heard him say it about pitches that were below the knees.

It feels like Eddie Rosario is due for a homer soon.

    I was an hour off

    1. And by “appreciate,” I mean “it’s actually fun to feel like you’ve swallowed a live iguana that is now scurrying around in your stomach, looking for the exit.” Still, he’ll convert more saves than he’ll blow, and that’s kinda fine, even as it’s incredibly unnerving.

      Hmmmm.

talk about the soft bigotry of low expectations.

  8. I hope the Twins win it in the 10th because , as much as I love baseball and all, Im not prepared for another 16 inning affair.

  9. Sure looked like Duke touched the base. They need to always keep a camera pointed down the line to check the gap.
