Minor Details: Games of May 4

Luke Bard returns to Rochester.  A big hit for Tanner English leads the Lookouts.  Home runs by Lewin Diaz and Joe Cronin carry the Miracle.  No offense for Cedar Rapids.

LEHIGH VALLEY 11, ROCHESTER 3 IN ROCHESTER

The IronPigs scored two in the first and four in the second to take control early.  All three Red Wings runs came in the eighth.

Jake Cave was 2-for-4.  Wynston Sawyer was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and is batting .333.  Sean Miller was 0-for-4 and is batting .091.  D. J. Baxendale lasted just 1.2 innings, allowing six runs on six hits and a walk.  Luke Bard, in his first appearance for the Red Wings this season, struck out two in two perfect innings.  Casey Crosby struck out two in a scoreless inning.  His ERA remains zero in 4.1 innings.

CHATTANOOGA 4,  MOBILE 2 IN MOBILE

The Lookouts were shut out for eight innings but scored four in the ninth to win it.  Tanner English, who came into the game batting .111, hit a two-run triple to bring in the tying and lead runs.

Brian Olson was 3-for-4 with a double and is batting .429.  English was 2-for-4.  Nick Gordon was 0-for-4 and is batting .327.  Zander Weil was 1-for-4 and is batting .326.  LaMonte Wade was 1-for-5 and is batting .304.  Omar Bencomo pitched five innings, giving up two runs on six hits and no walks and striking out two.  His ERA is 2.01.  Anthony McIver struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.  His ERA is 2.38.  Sam Clay struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and two walks.

FORT MYERS 8, JUPITER 3 IN FORT MYERS

The Miracle scored four runs in the second to take a 5-0 lead.  The lead was never less than three after that.

Lewin Diaz was 2-for-4 with a home run (his third) and two RBIs.  Mark Contreras was 2-for-4 with a walk and scored three times.  Joe Cronin was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer (his second) and a walk and is batting .333.  Andro Cutera pitched six innings, giving up two runs on five hits and no walks and striking out four.  Kevin Marnon struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.  His ERA remains zero in three innings.

WEST MICHIGAN 4, CEDAR RAPIDS 1 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The Kernels scored one in the first inning.  It held up through seven, but the Whitecaps got three in the eighth to win the game.  Cedar Rapids had just three hits.

Royce Lewis was 1-for-3 and is batting .353.  Brusdar Graterol pitched five shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks and striking out four.  His ERA is 1.04.
