ROCHESTER 3, SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 1 IN SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE
The Red Wings scored all their runs in the second inning on a three-run homer by Nick Buss. Clint Frazier homered in the third for the lone RailRiders run.
Kennys Vargas was 2-for-4. Buss was 1-for-3 with a walk in addition to the home run. Wynston Sawyer was 1-for-2 with two walks and is batting .467. Ryan Lamarre was 1-for-5 with a double and is batting .375. The next highest batting average in the Rochester lineup was .241 (Jake Cave). Myles Jaye pitched five innings, giving up one run on eight hits and two walks and striking out two. After a horrible beginning to the season, Jaye has given up a total of two runs in his last two starts. Jake Reed struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit. His ERA is 2.08. Alan Busenitz struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up a walk. His ERA is 0.90. John Curtiss struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up no hits and no walks. His ERA is 2.19.
TENNESSEE 11, CHATTANOOGA 10 IN CHATTANOOGA (12 INNINGS)
The Lookouts had leads of 6-0, 7-1, and 8-6 before the Smokies tied it with two out in the seventh. Using the Manfred Rule, each team scored twice in the tenth and was blanked in the eleventh. In the top of the twelfth, a ground out and a wild pitch brought home a run for Tennessee. In the bottom of the twelfth, a ground out moved the runner to third. Chris Paul then hit a fly ball to center and Alex Perez was thrown out trying to tag up and score to end the game.
Perez was 3-for-4 with two walks, scoring three times and driving in three. He is batting .417. Brian Olson was 3-for-6 and is batting .381. Nick Gordon was 2-for-6 and is batting .346. Brent Rooker was 1-for-6 with a home run, his third. Zander Weil was 1-for-5 with a walk and is batting .319. Kohl Stewart struck out six in 5.1 innings, but allowed six runs (four earned) on seven hits and no walks.
