Minor Details: Games of June 5

Nick Gordon keeps hitting, but gets no help.  Big innings sink the Lookouts.  Lots of hits, but not lots of runs for the Miracle.  Grand slams lead the Kernels to a doubleheader split.  The DSL Twins can't beat the Yankees, either.

INDIANAPOLIS 5, ROCHESTER 0 IN ROCHESTER

The Indians scored in the first inning and led all the way.

Nick Gordon had half the Red Wings hits, going 3-for-4 to raise his average to .357.  Wynston Sawyer was 1-for-4 and is batting .340.

Stephen Gonsalves pitched 5.2 innings, giving up three runs on three hits and four walks and striking out five.

MOBILE 11, CHATTANOOGA 5 IN CHATTANOOGA

Brendon Sanger hit a three-run homer in the second and Jose Rojas hit a two-run homer in a six-run fourth that put the BayBears up 9-0.  The Lookouts were never closer than six after that.

James Ramsey was 2-for-4 and scored twice.  Alex Perez was 2-for-4.  Sean Miller was 2-for-4.  Edgar Corcino was 2-for-5.  Brent Rooker was 2-for-5.  Chris Paul was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, his fourth.  LaMonte Wade was 1-for-4 with a walk and is batting .302.

Sean Poppen struck out five in 3.2 innings, but allowed eight runs on seven hits and three walks.  In two AA starts, his ERA is 12.38.  Paco Rodriguez pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks.  Zack Jones struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up a walk.  His ERA is 1.99.

PALM BEACH 6, FORT MYERS 4 IN FORT MYERS

The Miracle scored in the first inning on a wild pitch, but the Cardinals came back with one in the second, one in the third, and two in the fourth to build a 4-1 lead.  Fort Myers never got closer than two after that.

Travis Blankenhorn was 3-for-5 with two doubles.  Jimmy Kerrigan was 2-for-4 with a triple and a double and is batting .300.  Mark Contreras was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.  Taylor Grzelakowski was 2-for-4 with two runs.  Luis Arraez was 2-for-5 with a double.

Kevin Marnon, normally a reliever, pitched three innings, giving up two runs on three hits and no walks and striking out two.  Hector Lujan struck out four in three innings, giving up one run on three hits.  Alex Robinson pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and two walks and striking out one.

BELOIT 5, CEDAR RAPIDS 2, IN CEDAR RAPIDS (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

The Snappers scored a single run in each of innings two through four to build a 3-0 lead.  The Kernels scored two in the fourth, but left the bases loaded and never came that close again.  Jesus Lopez hit a two-run homer in the sixth.

Jose Miranda was 1-for-2 with a home run (his fifth) and a walk.  Alex Kirilloff was 1-for-2 with a walk and is batting .333.  Robby Rinn was 1-for-3 with a double and is batting .333.

Blayne Enlow pitched six innings, giving up five runs on ten hits and no walks and striking out two.  Carlos Suniaga pitched a perfect inning.

CEDAR RAPIDS 14, BELOIT 3 IN CEDAR RAPIDS (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

With the Kernels leading 3-2, Royce Lewis hit a grand slam in the fourth and Alex Kirilloff hit a grand slam in the fifth.  Cedar Rapids cruised after that.

Robby Rinn was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer (his second) and three runs.  He is batting .385.  Trey Cabbage was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs.  Jean Carlos Arias was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs.  Andrew Bechtold was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs.  Lewis was 2-for-4 with a grand slam.  It was his fourth homer and he scored twice.  Kirilloff was 1-for-5 with a grand slam, which was his eleventh homer.  He is batting .330.

DSL YANKEES 3, DSL TWINS 2 AT YANKEES

It was tied 2-2 through eight.  Two walks and an Angel Rojas double brought home the game-winner with one out in the ninth.

Carlos Aguiar was 1-for-4 with a double and is batting .333.  Victor Heredia was 1-for-4 and is batting .300.  Brahiap Carrillo was 0-for-4 and is batting .333.

Osiris German struck out seven in four shutout innings, giving up no hits and one walk.
