so, I see there was some discussion of the Pressly trade in the game log yesterday.
Pressly was on pace for the best year of his career. 51 appearances (career high: 72 in 2016, although he's averaging less than an inning per appearance this time, compared to right at/just over an inning per in prior years), 2.95 FIP, 2.86 xFIP, 0.8 fWAR (0.7 rWAR), and a very impressive 69:19 K:BB (13 K/9). His 699 OOPS isn't all that good, but that's mostly driven by an awful, awful month of June (325/400/625, ten runs allowed in 9.1 innings). 9 of those runs came in five appearances:
June 3: gave up a BB and a jacked donger; 2 runs, 1 hit, no outs, blown save
June 6: gave up 2 runs on two hits in an inning, blown save
June 8: gave up 2 runs on two hits including a jacked donger in an inning, taking the loss
June 23: gave up 2 runs on three hits and a BB in a third of an inning
June 27: gave up a run on a solo donger in one inning.
The team has picked up some interesting new assets to go with the youthful pieces added in the deal it completed earlier today. Alcala, who turns 23 tomorrow, is a pure flamethrower who’s still working to refine his secondary offerings. He has turned in 79 1/3 innings of 3.29 ERA ball with 9.3 K/9 and 4.0 BB/9 this year, splitting his time between High-A and Double-A, and graded as Houston’s tenth-best prospect on MLB.com’s most recent list. Celestino checked in at #15 on that ranking and was recently noted by Baseball America as the Astros’ top defensive outfield prospect. The 19-year-old has hit quite well this year at the low-A level, posting a .317/.383/.476 slash with four home runs.
To get any sort of value in return for a relief pitcher is a win in my book.
MLB's prospect watch slots both pretty highly into the Twins' top prospects too.
Lost in the shuffle of yesterday’s trade news, Lynn pitched a fine game against a tough Red Sox lineup. 6 innings, 6 hits, 3 strikeouts, 1 walk, and 2 runs. Too bad the bullpen gave the game away, it should have been in the win column.
This team seems very determined to prove there is no such thing as momentum in baseball.
Anyone in the Nation care to recommend a pizza dough recipe for grilling pizzas?

start here, Philo.
and, from 2012, advice from meat.
Well it smells like a pizza dough, so that's promising.
There’s something perfect about Philo making dough.
LTEs like this remind me how meta this place is.
Also, rereading that game log... oh mama. The interwebs are fo evah!!!
You know what we need around here? Somebody to do a regular feature on a past game log. That would be entertaining.
Nice to see other teams give back run(s) as well. Also nice to see Sano's first AB back doesn't end in a K
Carlos Gomez: Not a pitcher.
That was one of the funniest things I'll see all summer. The two balks were *chef's kiss *
Dammit, can't hold a lead
I don't even like walking on the airport floor, let alone sleeping on it.
