of course. thankfully the home plate umpire walked over and said, “joe, wtf?” before anyone had to waste a challenge.
It has to be pretty egregious (and it was) for the rest of the gang to override the crew chief. That's one of the reasons that the instant replay reviews are made off-site by people not in the same crew.
I don't know what's up with the mlb.com site, because I can't get that video to play (on either Chrome or Firefox). Maybe the umpire's union has found a way to throttle it?
Works on my Chrome. It was yesterday's Braves/Dbacks tilt if you want to look it up.
I had the same problem; had to suspend ad blocker to get it to play
Worked on my phone. Huh.
Lee Corso and Burt Reynolds were college teammates?!
Just found out that my sons' pitching coach knows Chase De Jong, who will be starting on Sunday for the Twins. De Jong was one of the players acquired in the Zach Duke trade. He pitched in 7 games last year, including 4 starts, for the Mariners.
Santana shut down.
What went down in the at the US Open today was total BS and unfair to both players.
If that was a soccer game, complaints would be nearly unanimous that the ref made the game about himself and tried to be the center of attention by calling something that’s essentially never called (the coaching call.) Apparently he has a reputation for making calls like that. Serena reacted poorly—basically the same as soccer players tend to react in the same situation—but the whole thing would have been so easy to avoid in the first place.
As an aside, if the powers that be don’t want coaching during the game, coaches shouldn’t be visible to the players during the game. An ounce of prevention and all that.
Did that really happen?

Cool, thanks. Lurch seems like he'd be good times to hang out with.
His explanation for his players' weekend nickname was great

Ironic, given the name of this Cup of Coffee, that this had just happened
That Antione Winfield, Jr. play was truly spectacular. Wow.
yep. i thought, "wow, but no way he was... oh wait, whoa."
By the looks of it, the receiver had the same train of thought.
I thought this play was better and more key to the win since it led to go-ahead TD when Gophers were trailing by a point. Both spectacular plays.
If today is tomorrow, what day will tomorrow be?
Today!
you guys are way off.
