Last night I saw Free Solo, the movie about Alex Honnald who climbed El Capitan at Yosemite with no ropes in 2017. Even though I knew he made it (oops spoiler) it was absolutely nerve wracking watching him climb. Beautifully filmed, plus you got to understand why Honnald would want to do such a thing. Still playing at the Lagoon if still interested. Or you could watch this 6 minute film that covers some of the movie.
I've been interested to see it--I follow Jimmy Chin on Instagram, and the snippets he's shared look amazing--but I'm also worried I'm too much of a wimp, even knowing the outcome.
Thanks to the pretty good job that "Relentless" (our Eufy Robovac II+) has been doing, I took to eBay and found a nicely priced once-used IIs upgraded model as well. Our thinking was that the quieter, leaner form factor would hang up less under chairs, etc., and we'd move the older model to run upstairs. On its maiden voyage, the new one did not require any help at all during its 1½ hr run, was pleasingly quieter, and ended with a belly full of lint. Only problem was that it didn't kick off at the time I had set it to, so I had to start it manually; I'll have to look into this the next few days. Oh, and we've nicknamed this one "Smoove"
Chris Jaffe points out that Carlton Fisk's 1975 WS Game Six homerun is exactly halfway between today and Babe Ruth's called shot.
This is worth 60 seconds of your time
Solar Dog really ties the whole thing together doesn't it?
Absolutely
Solar Dog would be a great band name.
Theo Epstein says no one on the Cubs is untouchable this winter and Kris Bryant is almost immediately trending on Twitter. Yeah, right.

This is heartbreaking news for the little ghost.

One of the greats. Was fortunate to have watched him play.
I'll have to make sure I get the Sunday paper.
HPR is not pleased, but figured he was about 50. "He's 35." (Which is younger than me by LBR's age.)
"What? Why is he retiring?"
Thanks Joe.
welcome.
Stopped in to leave a note, βThanks for the memories Joe. May your retirement bring you as much joy as your game brought to us!β

I am not a violent person, but reading his letter made me want to go punch in the face each person who had called him a faker.
More importantly, it was a wonderful letter and thank you, Joe!
