  1. Today, I'm exactly as old as Cy Young was the day his hitless innings streak ended at 23 (still there longest in MLB history): 13,557 days old. (I'm also as old as Tris Speaker the day he got his 3,000th hit, but who cares about him?)

    1. Sorry to see him go, but the Twins probably didn't have a spot for him. I suspect he'll get another chance somewhere, and I hope he can take advantage of it.

  2. Gonna miss Joe.

    1. I have found myself scanning the spring training box scores these past 3 days, and realizing that I always used to look for Joe's line first. I cared how he did, even in a spring training game. It's a big hole.

    1. It's totally cheating but I find it useful to see if it's a movie I've even heard of versus something I had no chance of knowing.

    2. I got all but number 2; pretty sure that's the first time I've gotten 7/8 on my own. I feel like I should be able to get it, but I can't quite come up with it.

      1. I had 1,2,4,8
Anyone want to post 3 and 5 because I'm not going to make any effort to figure them out.

      2. Yeah, I probably should have gotten 2, but never would have come up with it on my own. I kept thinking it was something like...

        1. Emergency pitchers aren't on the 25-man or 40-man roster, and can only pitch in certain conditions. I liked the idea to allow the emergency pitcher to be a member of the coaching staff.

Per the article, Position players are still allowed to pitch so long as they don't pitch to more batters than they have plate appearances during the season. (Would probably need an exception for the beginning of the season.)

      1. Very cool. I was terrible at it. Almost always doubled a letter that shouldn't have been doubled or missed a vowel toward the end.

    1. Nordic names vex me.
      -SSON, -SSEN, -SON, or -SEN?
And Scarlett's name... built on which Johan? -N, -NN, -NS, -NNS, -NES, or -NNES?

And all the permutations of Kirsten/Kristen/Christen/Christian etc. have troubled me all my life.
I can still never get my wife's friends' names right.

I would have never attempted Shia's or Matthew M.'s last names without looking them up or being intentionally ignorant. (As it was, I switched the order of two of the latter vowels in Shia's name. Better than I would have thought.)
Chuck's isn't a name I've even tried to pronounce. Somehow I got all the right letters in mostly the wrong places. Just the first and last letters were in the right place.
I also got Mark M's last name quite wrong, and missed a double-vowel in Zach's name.
