Well, it’s officially Spring now. Hopefully it feels like it wherever you are.

While rare during solar minimum, as no surprise the twisted magnetic fields at sunspot AR2736 produced a C4-class solar flare and CME. Folks up nort' keep your eyes peeled Friday or Saturday for aurora from a glancing blow to Earth.
North Hemisphereism!
Did I say "borealis"? Did I?
not you, brah.
i apologize to our friends on the world's better half. may this autumn bring a bountiful harvest of happiness to you all.
well, technically I should have said "and down sout'" as well...
Well done, Ichiro. Wish he could have wrapped up with a hit or two today.
With the Wolves' elimination number at 1, I can't argue too much with that.
Wild Playoff Watch: Why Are We Doing This? Edition
The Wild are one point out of the last playoff spot with 8 games to play. Technically they are in the playoff race, but I don't think a playoff berth as the lowest seed will salvage the impression of the season for most fans.

Chicago is the last place team in the Central Division, so it is possible that the Wild finish in last place in their division for the first time in a long time (last happened in the 2005-2006 season).
The Cellar Watch just doesn't have the same ring to it.
Anaheim will miss the playoffs for the first time in 7 seasons this year, so if the Wild can squeak in, they'll have the longest playoff appearance streak in the West (7 seasons - only Pittsburgh at 13 will have a longer active streak in the NHL)
I haven't been paying super close attention to the Wild this season because Wild, but when I heard on WBEZ that the Blackhawks were still chasing a playoff spot, I thought, wow, the Wild suck even worse than I thought.
They traded a bunch of players away at the deadline. It seems like the front office isn't satisfied with an 8-seed either.
Right, which didn't do much to bolster my enthusiasm this year. That said, they still might reach the playoffs so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. The fact they traded a bunch of guys and are still probably in the same position they would be with them isn't a great look for the FO.
The pessimists out there were writing this off as a wasted year early because not much changed in the first off-season of the new FO. Turns out they were right, and I guess now we see where things go from here, since they obviously won't be the same-old same-old.
I think the team is better than the bottom of the division, but they have only showed that a couple of times this year (shutting out Tampa, beating the Jets a couple of times ...) while they just can't win when they really need to.
I will actually be surprised if they make the playoffs, I think they are more likely to end up in the 10 or 11 spot in the conference.
I have no doubt that they'll sneak into the payoffs. It just seems like what they do.
It'll be an absolutely miserable playoffs, though.
Yeah, I'll watch, but I won't be expecting anything.
Gophers with possibly their best half of the season.

Wolves' Rose, Teague, Covington expected to miss rest of season

Streaky teams can surprise you sometimes.
2nd half is looking pretty good too.
Anyone who thinks they understand that team is lying to him/herself.
I forgot to pick one of the Semi-Final winners in my bracket! Ugh.
That was sure close for Beau!
Uh huh
*changes his twitter name back*
I'm listening to Boston/Tampa Bay, and we have an Oliver Drake sighting!
Butters was released by the Phillies.
If no one picks him up, I have to think he'll get hired as a coach or a scout or something.
Hopefully not a hitting coach.
I could see him being some sort of special assignment scout this year, and then next year being a minor league catching coordinator.
