He's struck out 23 times in his last 42 PAs. Meanwhile, the O's are paying him $23M for this year and for each of the next 3 seasons.

I don't understand why they continue to play him. Yes, they're paying him a lot of money, but that's a sunk cost. They'll pay him that whether he plays or not. Continuing to play him when everyone can see he's not getting the job done tells the whole team, "We're not serious about trying to win."
