Kyle Gibson
vs
Trent Thornton
Gibson hopes to keep the good vibes going with another shutout tonight.
Opposing that is Thornton in his rookie campaign. He's done well this year. He strikes out a bunch of guys, walks way more than Rhu_Ru finds comfortable, and gives up some home runs. He lost his first start against the Twins in April. Let's make that two losses against the Twins!
Gibson with a shutout might be asking a bit much. I'll take a quality start and put some faith in the offense.
He doesn't need to complete it, only contribute his five or six innings
Polancoooooo-no-no-no-no-no-no-no
Phil Cuzzi takin a shit, late to the start of the inning.
That's why you poop in the morning, Phil.
Often, yes.
I've still not forgiven him for that missed fair/foul call vs the Yankees in the playoffs some years back........
Yeah, that'll always be on the back of my mind. But then I try to think, well, at least it isn't angel hernandez out there.
Im worried this team doesn't know how to manufacture runs. It's nothing but the long ball.........
that has been a recent topic of conversation here. for now, i'm happy with the donger mashing.
My comment was dripping with sarcasm. Im loving this start!!!
I don't think it matters. They've been shut out once. It's a lot easier to score if you don't rely on at least three singles or walks in one inning.
That’s exactly what my last date said... hey-oh!
This was supposed to below Geoff’s comment obviously.
(it is)
Jeez, look at that.
Morneau's been in the US too long. He just used inches.
Ah, one of thoooose games.
DONG!
actually, you're right, i'm getting sick of this.
The Twins seem to be breaking from their Blue Jay allergy in a big way.
Tellez blowin' bubbles instead of makin' playz.
I approve of the Jay's RF's name.
At first I heard "Socrates Burrito".
Even better.
Socrates Burrito:
Kokoretsi, rice, cucumber, gigandes plaki, feta, in a pita, topped with skordalia or tirokafteri.
Washed down with hemlock, I suppose.
I’d rather quaff several glasses of rhoditis, followed by some raki, but the hemlock would be traditional.
This sounds like a good "The Nation Has An Appetite" post.
It'd be a killer post.
I am more interested in the method...for the burrito....
yeah, i want that burrito.
Woohoo!
(All I really wanted when I made that comment was a buck from Philo...)
Well earned.
No love for the Socratic Burrito Method, I see. (That would be a good band name).
In Game Poll: Will the Twins keep their scoreless game streak alive today?
I'm voting yes.
I like how if a simple majority of us agrees, it's gonna happen. No chance of an electoral college screwing this one up!
Mariners halfway into a no-hitter against the Yankees. All the wishes in the world they complete it.
Not enough wishes.
This seems like your fault.
I feel like Cron should be out, but that's odd situation.
What happened?
He moved to the side to avoid the tag because of the wide throw and his momentum took him last the bag, so he turned and reached down to touch first then immediately stood back up and continued walking past it.
Agreed. But I like how Morneau was like, I don't know, I've never seen that before.
I turn on the game and a Jay hits a dinger. sorry
Eddie's got your back.
Another 5 hit game for Polanco. Wow
He's turning into the pickup of the year, fantasy-wise.
Haven't been in the gamelog, but I'd been watching the game on one of the sports bar's big screens. Good Gibby and a hit barrage -- a plethora of riches. While 11+ Ks might annoy me, it's barely noticeable in this runaway.
Pannone determined not to give up a two run homer.
My brother & I are having an exchange about this roster and how it compares to some squads of the past. Both of us agree we’re seeing something pretty special in this group of guys.
Yeah, I've had a very similar feeling, though I've been trying to temper it for now.
It's easy to believe this is just SSS and not potentially the norm for this team.
Aquinas tonight: So the Twins have had really good luck then? Or maybe they're better, but they're not normally this good, right?
Who are these guys?
The Canadian broadcast crew just said that these twins are "for real" folks. Kiss of death, or the real mutha-effin' truth ?
I'm looking ahead... end of May has 2 against the Brewers, 4 against the Rays, 3 at Cleveland. If they make it through that...
I can't help but be nervously optimistic. Beats reluctant cynicism though
