ROCHESTER 5, BUFFALO 4 IN ROCHESTER (10 INNINGS)

Jake Cave singled home the winning run.

Batting stars:  Cave was 2-for-4.  John Andreoli was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer (his sixth) and two runs.  Zander Weil was 1-for-3 with two walks.  Drew Maggi as 0-for-0 with three walks.

Pitching stars:  Andrew Vasquez pitched a scoreless inning, giving up two walks.  Jake Reed struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.  D. J. Baxendale pitched a perfect inning and struck out one.

Opposition star:  Patrick Kivlehan was 2-for-4 with two home runs (his fifth and sixth) and three RBIs.

Stats:  Wynston Sawyer was 1-for-4 and is batting .500.  Jordany Valdespin was 1-for-4 and is batting .336.  Nick Gordon was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .303.

Record:  The Red Wings are 19-31, sixth (last) in the International League North, 10.5 games behind Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The Braves had the tying run in scoring position in each of the last three innings.

Batting stars:  Travis Blankenhorn was 2-for-4.  Mark Contreras was 1-for-3 with a home run, his second.

Pitching stars:  Andro Cutura struck out four in four shutout innings, giving up two hits and one walk.  Adam Bray pitched three innings, giving up one run on four hits and striking out two.  Anthony Vizcaya struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up two hits.

Opposition star:  Alejandro Salazar was 3-for-4 with a double.

Stats:  Ben Rortvedt was 0-for-3 and is batting .351.  Blankenhorn is batting .309.  Bray has an ERA of 2.76.  Vizcaya made his AA debut and has an ERA of zero.

Record:  The Blue Wahoos are 32-22, first in the Southern League South, one game ahead of Blioxi.

Aaron Whitefield hit a three-run homer in the fourth to break a 1-1 tie.

Batting stars:  Trevor Larnach was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Hunter Lee was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.  Whitefield was 2-for-5 with a three-run homer (his fourth) and two runs.  Ryan Jeffers was 2-for-5 with a home run, his fifth.  Ryan Costello was 0-for-1 with four walks and three runs.

Pitching stars:  Jordan Balazovic retired all four men he faced, striking out two.  Melvi Acosta pitched 4.2 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks and striking out three.  Hector Lujan retired all seven men he faced, striking out two.

Opposition star:  Colby Bortles was 2-for-4 with two runs.

Stats:  Lewin Diaz was 1-for-4 with a walk and is batting .317.  Larnach is batting .310.  Lee is batting .300.  Balazovic has an ERA of 2.13.  Lujan has an ERA of 1.60.

Record:  The Miracle is 32-21, tied for first with Palm Beach in the Florida State League South, a game ahead of Bradenton.

The Kernels scored three in the eighth to take a 6-4 lead.

Stats:  Jared Akins was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .328.
