I like the way the Twins have responded the past couple days. They’re plucky!

Sunday prediction contest.
Pick one Twin to hit a homer today. You can also pick nobody if you're a pessimist.
Against a lefty? Sano and Cron (2nd AB)
Seconding Sano.
Well I've got Mitch Garver down for one
I've got Marwin.
Today one of Polanco's doubles will be hit high enough to go out.
I'll put my money on a long shot, give me Schoop.
He is due.
Garver is due. Been the longest for him!
Today's tilt is the free game of the day.
Woooo! Stadium sounds!
I read "Twins slugger activated off the IL" and thought "but I thought Cruz had to go on a rehab assignment?"
Turns out they meant Garver. This year is fun.
I also enjoy how a couple days ago it was "I hope they split the series to salvage this." and now, with Odorizzi pitching is "they'll probably take the series."
Jeremy Yarborough on the mound today? Hmmm.
Tempting to say that he's gonna git lit up (5.53 ERA). But that FIP (3.94) is a warning sign. SSST warning: 154/195/205 slash line allowed in his last two appearances. Only a .176 BABIP, so maybe a little lucky?? His last appearance was 3 2/3 of relief.
On the Smoker
Yesterday, I smoked a 2.5lb pork shoulder on the pit barrel cooker with cherry wood chips, ~5 hrs. After 3 hrs of hanging, I double-wrapped the pork in tin-foil with 1/2 c. home-brew cider and put it back on the grill surface.
What made it fantastiche was Eastern Carolina BBQ Sauce:
3/4 c. apple cider vinegar (Braggs)
1/8 c. home-brew cider (Northern Brewer kit)
1/4 c. brown sugar (gotta stir a bit to get it in)
2 tsp cayenne
Healthy scoche of crushed red pepper flakes
some Kosher salt
And then NBBW made a coleslaw with fresh cilantro, and we served the whole thing up on snowflake rolls. Crickey, mate.
Mmmm, smoked meat.
Mmmmhmmm. I smoked a butt last weekend. Porrrrrkkkk!
Today I am grilling greek-style chicken breasts (marinated in olive oil, lemon, lemon zest, garlic, rosemary, oregano, dill, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, red wine vinegar). Steamed and cooled broccoli and baby potatoes with a vinaigrette on the side and the Dubs on the tube.
I also smoked a butt last weekend. Making sweet potato, black bean, and smoked pork tamales with the left overs.
The Twins are in Oakland for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th. Trying to get The Boy and his gf up for the holiday to see a game and enjoy the day.
How did the cider turn out? Do you have a full brewing setup or some sort of self-contained kit?
Turned out great - longer in the bottle the better - this batch was from a year ago.
New Luther on BBC America. D@mn, not good right before bedtime
So this year's team has the best start in team history over 58 games; what are the other great starts? And I have to believe an 11½ game lead at this point in the season is unheard of

oooh. I've never made tamales. Sounds awesome.

very easy to make, just very time consuming.
nomnom.
sounds like a 4th of July possibility.

Not exactly what you meant, but it was a 11.5 game difference.
holy cats -- from that date on, the 2006 Twins played at the same level as this year's Yankees team
